OOC: I’ve been on the Merrimac for some time now in many different guises and many different guises and characters. I’ve been in STF for longer than I care to think >about. But I have come to a point in my life where I must say goodbye to both. With the demands of both my wife’s health and my own along with the normal wear and >tear of life I no longer have the time and energy to carry on.

I shall miss many of you. Dave in particular. The longest serving captain ever. I salute you sir! And of course, Krys. The devil of all sims. Forcing us to use our minds even >when our minds are on vacation. I even wrote a character for Krys to make her nicer to us. Rana was a mixture of Canadian truck drivers which I’ve met over the years.

All the rest of you although we haven’t served long together, I have grown to enjoy your writing. Much of it amazes me. And last but not least. I saw a post the other day >which amused me. Talking about how long they had watched TOS. The first time I saw it was its pilot. The thing was tossed out. Fortunately for everyone Gene >Roddenberry was a smooth talker. Lucille Ball bought his show. But enough of that. I’m wasting time as I roll out the door of the bar after last call. So best wishes my >friends and may we all have blue skies and better tomorrows.

I am sitting here with tears in my eyes as I write this, Bob. We have written together, served together and been friends for a long time in STF. I cried when I wrote the goodbye post for Linds and I am crying again today. I know the demands of age though and I feel them myself as I struggle to balance STF, life, health and work. I wish you and your wife the best and hope your able to still find enjoyments outside of STF. You will be greatly missed, my friend. Peace and Long life.

Oh man , I’m really sorry to see you leaving , I know we didn’t serve together for very long but I’ve enjoyed simming with you none the less , Wow you were around for the pilot, that’s amazing you must have had quite the journey with Star trek in it’s many variations even when it wasn’t great....cough Discovery I’m looking at you lol, I totally understand RL can get in the way of a hobby, you need to do what’s best for wife and yourself , Good luck in your endeavours moving forward.

I’ve personally thanked Bob but I wanted to add it here publicly too. Bob helped me out during some difficult times and I think that I once said he was the best XO I’d ever had. He was actually on the Merrimack three (I think?) times, so the Merrimack owes much to him. He was a COS for a long period, and his Bartender role was how I coaxed him back again. I totally understand why he is leaving now and wish him the greatest of luck. I told him to live long and prosper.
