Officer Zavey was born in 2314 (?) to Tristan and Ethan Zavey. She was one of four children raised in New York City on the coast of Glenn Cove. Her family was comfortably middle class and education wasn’t an issue. Elyss went through the normal channels in her schooling from kinder through high school, then switched to Starfleet Academy Sciences, instead of going to college like her parents wished.

Elyss really applied herself while at the academy and graduated in three years rather than the usual four that most people took. Her first assignment was working as her favorite professors teaching assistant. After that, she signed on with the USS Brigadoon, a science vessel that patrolled Star Fleet borders. After that, she transferred to the USS Merrimack in a junior officer capacity. It was her hope to one day be a department chief.
