Main Sin: Main Shuttlebay

The quiet hum of the shuttle bay was punctuated by the occasional chirp of diagnostic equipment as one of the engineering technicians worked methodically around the waiting shuttlecraft.

Crewman First Class Dalen crouched beneath the port nacelle access panel, running a final calibration through the shuttle’s field coils. Satisfied, he secured the panel before moving to the landing gear, tricorder in hand.

“Structural integrity field emitters are within tolerance. Inertial dampers are green across the board,” he reported to no one in particular as the results scrolled across his handheld display.

Crossing beneath the shuttle’s nose, he connected a portable power cart long enough to complete the final systems synchronization before disconnecting it moments later.

Inside the cockpit, status indicators flickered from amber to green one by one.

  • Impulse engines: Nominal
  • RCS thrusters: Nominal
  • Environmental systems: Online
  • Navigation sensors: Calibrated
  • Shields: Standing by
  • Transporter systems: Operational
  • Communications: Verified

Dalen stepped back as the shuttle’s access hatch cycled smoothly.

“Pre-flight diagnostics complete,” he called toward the gathering flight crew. “Fuel reserves are topped off, emergency rations and medical kits have been replenished, and all mission equipment requested by Engineering, Science, Security, and Medical has been secured aboard.”

He gave the shuttle an approving pat along the hull.

“She’s ready whenever the team is.”

With that, the young engineer collected his equipment and cleared the immediate area, leaving the shuttle standing quietly beneath the bright lights of the bay, fully prepared for the landing party’s departure.

Your Darkest Nightmare

Rynak had slowly descended off a turbolift before his boots met the ground, coming to stand right next to one of the engineering officers present. His eyes seemed to illuminate when mismatched eyes landed on their vessel, tail betraying a small wag behind him. Composure remaining steady as the last calibrations were ran.

Lt. JG. ch’Sorel stepped in to assist wherever he could, building and repairing had become one of his favorite hobbies as a child. Sometimes being allowed to help wherever was required. At this point it happened to be his favorite place, behind the navigation console. CFC. Dalen had deemed the shuttle as mission worthy, that is until safety protocols came at hand. Being inside a shuttle craft was what he could only describe as “being trapped inside a shoebox.”

He slowly stepped out with what could only appear as light scorch marks, but the Canidin didn’t even bother to point them out. There was genuine enthusiasm emerging from his face, turning directly at the engineering team with a rare smile on his face. “Thirishar, kin’shaya. Ushras zha ri’shev engineering thal. Keth shraneth.” (Thank you, my friends. It was an honor to work alongside Engineering. Until next time.)

He stepped off and carefully joined the rest of the away team. Beaming with excitement almost like a little child.

U.S.S. Merrimack - NCC-2346 (Mariner Class)

OOC: My apologies I’m too busy to post right now. We’ve had an offer on our house and accepted. Put an offer on a house and were rejected, so busy looking at other houses and dealing with solicitors. Also went away for four days to my son’s (already planned). In the meantime. a stitch was left in the wound from my surgery, and it got infected, and I had another different medical thing too. It’s all gone mad crazy here. And difficult to think in the heat and humidity we had last week in the UK. Anyway I’ll try to catch up soon, but…

Note to GM: Do we need to take out a Shuttle here?? I thought the Merrimack had docked in the Vey’lan Dock and we would be walking out along those ‘corridors’ on the map rather than flying along them. Am I wrong? I’m confused.
