USS Merrimack
Main Sim: Bridge

snipIC: The bridge remained calm despite the extraordinary discoveries unfolding beneath the crystalline city. With the Merrimack securely docked alongside Vey’lan, every major sensor, communications array, and scientific processor aboard the ship continued devoting available resources toward understanding the harmonic phenomenon surrounding them.
At the Operations console, Ensign Daniel Corwin frowned thoughtfully as another cascade of harmonic data scrolled across his display. “That’s odd…” He murmured almost to himself.
The latest sequence no longer appeared completely foreign. Since Lieutenant ch’Sorel’s predictive model had been incorporated into the computer’s processing routines, MAJEL had gradually stopped treating each harmonic transition as an isolated event.
Instead, the computer had begun recognizing relationships between them—connections too subtle for conventional Federation algorithms to identify on their own.
Corwin watched as another diagnostic routine completed. Adaptive harmonic synchronization: 73%… 81%… 94%…
The Operations display suddenly reorganized itself.
Hundreds of previously unrelated frequency groups aligned into repeating geometric relationships. Rather than appearing as random oscillations, the harmonics now resembled an intricate language built upon mathematics, resonance, and temporal cadence. A soft chime sounded.MAJEL spoke before Corwin could issue another command.
“Adaptive synchronization complete.”
Every workstation on the bridge briefly displayed the same notification.
Corwin blinked in surprise. “Computer… explain.”
“The Vey’lan harmonic network utilizes layered resonant structures not previously recognized as linguistic architecture. Lieutenant Junior Grade ch’Sorel’s predictive harmonic model enabled successful synchronization with the observed communication framework.”
Corwin leaned closer. “Can you translate it?” He asked with excitement.
There was a pause lasting only seconds. “Translation remains incomplete. Current comprehension: twenty-one point four percent.
New text began appearing beneath the harmonic waveforms—not literal Federation Standard, but conceptual approximations.

Welcome
Corwin’s eyebrows rose. “It’s not individual words. It’s almost like all these words make a chord of music.”
“Correct,” MAJEL replied. “The harmonic structures encode concepts, emotional context, spatial relationships, and temporal references simultaneously. Federation linguistic matrices possess no direct equivalent.” Another harmonic sequence flowed through the ship.
This time MAJEL responded almost immediately.
Approximate translation: New voices arrive. The Chorus listens. Understanding grows through shared resonance.
Around the bridge, several support officers looked up from their stations as the translated concepts appeared on their displays.
Corwin immediately initiated multiple verification routines, ensuring the computer was not merely pattern-matching random data. Each independent analysis returned the same statistical confidence.
The translation was imperfect but it was genuine as another sequence followed moments later.
MAJEL hesitated noticeably longer before speaking.

The First Harmony answers
The bridge grew noticeably quieter and Corwin’s eyes shifted toward the telemetry streaming from the away team deep beneath the city.
Whatever Captain Glen and the landing party had encountered within Vey’lan’s subterranean chamber, the city was no longer merely responding. It was speaking.
And for the first time since the Merrimack’s arrival, Starfleet had begun to understand its voice.

Your Darkest NightmareAfter a few moments of silence once MAJEL had spoken, the lieutenant junior grade headed towards the front viewscreen. He took a seat behind the helm console without the need for words. The harmonic model he had set up had done its work. Rynak’s muzzle pulled back on an awkward smile before letting himself focus on solving what was left of the puzzle.
So many melodies had come together as a communication system, which all bridge officers left behind were now attempting to decode. “Instead of looking at it as some sort of language, don’t we think of it the same way whales communicate?” Surely enough the method seemed out of the blue coming from a junior officer raised by Andorians. But he had to at least try, “each through some unique song.”
Heterochromic eyes went by own to the display right beneath his muzzle, a model which the Canidin had now pulled towards the main viewscreen. Attempting lo layer different notes and matching them to different structures which currently surrounded the ship. “Sound comes in waves.” he continued, letting the animations follow through. “Surely enough these structures with following red streaks of light need to be related with communication from the ground. As if the planet itself-“
It was that very moment that realization hit the 21 year old’s mind. Multiple numbers being ejected onto scientific consoles through their long range sensors. Though the structure of those chords, the language itself wasn’t recognized by any available federation database he would’ve bothered reading through. Innumerable texts throughout starfleet history. And their ship surely enough was one of the first to explore beyond the Alpha quadrant.

A second of reluctance came into the collie’s mind before shanking up and reaching the ship’s internal communication system. He cleared his throat, which having different officers on the bridge accompanying him seemed somewhat embarrassing. “This is Lieutenant ch’Sorel speaking to the science department.” given his age, the voice that came from his vocal cords happened to be somewhat high pitched, almost child-like for certain officers to take Rynak seriously.
That spare paw was placed over his muzzle in embarrassment as he continued. “I require assistance to understand the melodic resonance upon every illuminated crystalline surface of the planet.”

Or you can use [O] and [C] to symbolize open and close channel. You can also use these symbols to simulate speaking to the computer.
IC:
The call from the bridge reached the Science Department while most of its available personnel were already occupied with the steady flood of data coming from Vey’lan.
At one of the laboratory analysis stations, Ensign Mara Venn, a young Human astrophysicist specializing in wave mechanics and subspace phenomena, looked up as Lieutenant ch’Sorel’s request came across the intercom. Venn had spent most of the Merrimack’s time at Vey’lan examining the unusual energy behavior of the crystalline structures, and the latest information immediately caught her attention. She activated the comm. =^= Science to Lieutenant ch’Sorel. Ensign Venn here. I have the harmonic telemetry. Give me a moment. =^=
She transferred the bridge data onto her own display and began separating the detected resonances by frequency, amplitude, phase, duration, and their corresponding locations within Vey’lan. The comparison produced an immediate pattern.
=^= Lieutenant, I think your analogy may be useful, but I don’t think we’re dealing with sound alone. The harmonics appear to be the carrier. The information is contained in the relationships between the waves. =^= Venn sent up the illumination patterns recorded across the crystalline city and synchronized them with the harmonic telemetry to ch’Sorel’s display. The match was unmistakable.
=^= The red illumination is correlated with the resonance. When one of those crystalline structures changes its harmonic state, we’re detecting a corresponding change in the light moving through it. =^= Her fingers moved rapidly across the controls. =^= MAJEL, compare harmonic phase transitions against observed illumination changes throughout Vey’lan. Include the structures beneath the city. =^= Data began accumulating across her display.
Venn stared at the results for several seconds.
=^= Lieutenant… you’re onto something. Don’t think of the individual structures as separate transmitters. Think of them as parts of the same instrument. =^= She enlarged the model and it enlarged on ch’Sorel’s screen as well.
=^= A single crystal gives us one note. Another changes its phase and gives us another. But when thousands of them resonate together, the relationships between those frequencies create the information MAJEL is beginning to translate. =^= Her voice became more intent as she examined the deeper sensor returns.
=^= And it isn’t limited to the surface structures. I’m detecting the same relationships extending through the crystalline formations beneath Vey’lan. If these readings are correct, the city isn’t simply receiving a signal from somewhere underground, it itself may be the communication system. =^=
She began feeding her analysis directly to ch’Sorel’s station. =^= I’m sending you Science’s correlation model now. If we combine your predictive harmonic model with the illumination cycles and map both against the structures producing them, we may be able to give MAJEL enough context to push that twenty-one percent comprehension considerably higher. =^=
Ensign Venn looked again at the enormous network represented across her display. =^= You keep working on the melody, Lieutenant. Science will work out what instrument is playing it. =^=

As a feminine voice emerged through ceiling speakers, his tense posture seemed to relax ever so slightly. Rynak walked back to the helm console, where telemetry data illuminated that small display. Both hands were on re leaning against each side of that station, waiting patiently for the next Both hands were on re leaning against each side of that station, waiting patiently for the next explanation to come.
Once the ensign had made a point on the harmonics acting as some sort of carrier. Information traveling through sound. A protocol which they had yet to decipher. The junior grade officer wasn’t exactly experienced with all the knickknacks related to science, after all, the academy had trained him as a pilot. Yet, the curiosity to understand what kind of technology these people used was astounding. Unlike anything he at least, had encountered before. Each crystal corespondent to a different accord the planet had started to play.
These recurring situations had certainly gained his interest to dive deeper into an unsolved matter. Though they only seemed to obtain more questions rather than answers. A canine like groan abandoned his vocal cords, =^=“Is it possible to overlay the model’s programming into all telemetry obtained by long range sensors?” =^= though Rynak’s voice tone remained entirely curious. Going into a deep dive into any subject like a boy genius about unravel history’s darkest secrets.
He continued looking carefully through the cavern system, attempting to piece this puzzle together through the images sent by Ensign Venn. But the deeper his eyes continued reading between the lines of every piece of data they had now gathered, an answer would eventually be found.
