[Snip!]Meanwhile in Shuttlebay, Captain Kastarak and a group of his colleagues stood waiting for the transport to arrive. Along with them stood also Ensign Sutalo, the head nurse of the ship, monitoring the antigrav stretcher carrying Captain Maddox, the former one-hour CO of the Chernov). The plan, and the orders given Kastarak, was to transfer Maddox to the transport and welcome Commander T’Aria as the Chernov’s new XO.
As Kastarak looked down at the clearly living but not responding Maddox lying on his stretcher, he could not help and reflect over the shortest ever tenure on the Chernov.
Maddox had stood before the bridge crew just after arriving, speaking of Taggart with quiet reverence. I am not here to fill his shoes, Maddox had said, his gaze steady, the faint glint of humility visible even through the formal cadence. When the ground feels uncertain, we fall back on what we trust—our training, our discipline, and each other. Now the same man lay motionless on the stretcher with his eyes closed. The irony was not lost on Kastarak. He had called them to discipline – and then, within the hour, had been carried away by frailty beyond command or logic. Kastarak stood by Maddox’s stretcher, hands clasped behind his back, watching Ensign Sutalo make some final checks for departure. He recalled Maddox’s final words on the bridge: For Captain Taggart, for the Chernov, let’s see this done.
Kastarak now left the stretcher, and walked back to the group waiting for the runabout to arrive.
We shall, he thought, echoing the same words in his mind: For Captain Taggart, for the Chernov, Kastarak would lead, as he now prepared to bid farewell of his last commanding officer.

[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]John was waiting in the control room and was going to meet with the new XO. He even had a few more security teams on rotation today. As the shuttle was docking in the hangar he went down to greet the shuttle crew and the new XO.
Lt. John Forster (CWO)
In the cockpit of the runabout the young red-headed Ensign was skillfully positioning the runabout so it could make a clean entrance to the shuttle bay. “Ma’am, two minutes out. I’m contacting the Chernov to let her know we’re here and ready!” With a quick motion of his hand he opened a channel.
^=^Runabout Ganimedes to USS Chernov. Requesting permission to fly aboard!^=^T’Aria offered an affirming nod and settled back into her chair, preparing for landing.
As the most senior officer in charge, Kastarak would have to make the decision. Almost like a game of whispers, the request travelled through a series of people – all arguably able to make the decision – until it reached Kastarak. He relayed that the request was permitted, and instructions to the Ganimedes was to land in Shuttlebay.
OOC: Now it doesn’t say in the specs that the runabout would be tractored in so I’m going to fly her in.
IC: In the rear of the runabout the cheerful young medic stood near the rear ramp, hanging on to a landing strap, ready to disembark and assist the transfer of Captain Maddox.

OOC: My apologies! I missed the bit about the permission being given!
IC:The young Ensign guided the runabout smoothly into position, gliding through the bay’s forcefield without so much as a whisper. With a gentle touchdown, the craft settled onto the deck, its engines easing into an idle hum. As the large rear door lowered into a ramp, the medic stood poised at the top, waiting until it was fully deployed before descending—ready to assist in loading Captain Maddox aboard.

Your Darkest NightmareCaptain Kastarak stood by the antigrav gurney where Maddox lay, and said to him: “In accepting the inevitable, one finds peace. May your journey be without incident, captain.” After a quick Vulcan salute to his former commanding officer (albeit for an hour or so), Kastarak gave the order to begin moving the gurney off to the runabout.
Soon he’d see T’Aria and the new nurse, Ashley Montana.

Commanding OfficerAshley stepped out and started to walk over to the captain. “Nurse Ashley Montana reporting in captain.” She said with a smile.

USS Chernov“Welcome aboard, ensign,” Kastarak said to her. “Crewman Ricky will help you with the on-boarding procedures.”
She looked at the captain. “Yes, sir.” She replied back with a gentle nod and smile.
T’Aria stepped off the runabout ramp shortly behind Nurse Montana, keeping to the side so the medical team had ample space to transport Captain Maddox. Her expression remained assessing, but unmoved as she glanced about the shuttlebay and those gathered within.
Lt. John Forster finally entered the hanger Bay. As he entered he looked around and thought how He hated being late but the new security crewman Ricky had a few questions that needed to be addressed.
Lt. John Forster (CWO)
Kastarak looked around, and then saw Forster and Ricky enter hangar bay.
“There is Lt Forster, chief weapons officer, and there is crewman Ricky,” Kastarak said as he pointed with his hand toward the two men entering.

USS ChernovWhen the opportunity availed itself, T’Aria walked toward Kastarak, but her attention was diverted by another’s swift approach.
John took the new XO hand and shook it.
“It’s nice to meet you” he said with his sharp eyes taking in every thing
“Lieutenant,” T’Aria greeted after a quick, appraising glance at the insignia adorning his wrists. He must be the Chief Weapons Officer Kastarak introduded to Nurse Montana. Lieutenant Forster. Her grip faltered only for a heartbeat, betraying her surprise in his gesture, but she quickly tightened it into a curt but steady shake. “Thank you. I look forward to working with you.”
”is everything thing secure for our old captains departure”
Lt. John Forster (CWO)
The young medic made her way down the ramp to help the other medical personnel in getting Captain Maddox up the ramp. Once the Captain was rolled up, she secured him aboard the runabout and took the update given her for his care.
The pilot meanwhile just waited patiently for all the formalities to be seen too. He was ready to depart when the word was given.

Your Darkest NightmarePawl was standing at his station in the control booth as he quietly said goodbye to the captain. He was waiting for final clearance to launch the runabout. Pawl did his best to keep focused on his work it was not easy, but he did it.
[[Lt ]] [[Pawl Batario]]
[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]The intercom for the Shuttlebay beeped and the voice of the ship’s Science Officer spoke in a clear voice [O]Bridge to Shuttlebay, Ganimedes is cleared for Launch, welcome aboard Commander T’Aria. The Chernov will be returning to her original destination as soon as Ganimedes is clear[C]
CSO, 2O
T’Aria bowed her head in appreciation of Grey’s welcome, turning toward Ganimedes in observation of its departure.
=^= Shuttle craft control acknowledged. =^= Pawl said calmly as he closed the channel from the bridge. He quickly informed Acting Captain Kasarak. Pawl tapped a button on his Panel to open a channel =^= Shuttle Craft control booth. This is Chief Engineer Pawl Batario. We have clearance for the shuttle launch.=^= Pawl said calmly, but he knew it was his decision for himself or another officer to confirm the launch process that was Pawl standing by, just in case he was given the order or not.

[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]– T’Aria, XO
Seeing T’Aria walk toward him, Kastarak thought she had not changed at all. She looked near-exactly the same. Perhaps the hair had a slight difference in length (or was it volume?) since last they saw one another. Still, it was as if time had stood still. Seeing T’Aria caused a slight but warm flutter in Kastarak’s gut, recognizable but easily suppressed. He knew what it meant: her absence was noticeable on his psyche, and even more noticeable in his psyche was her return, their reunion.
Seeing her interact with some of the crew she had not before met, Kastarak was impressed with her pose and calmness. Even the handshake she performed without visible hesitation. Perhaps it had been her first handshake for years – life on New Vulcan would likely be without much physical touch – unless she had taken on a partner or had a child. But, surely, he would have known about that then?
He noticed he had begun slouching – not enough so that humans would likely recognize it – but enough for a Vulcan (or Pawl!) to pick up on it. He straightened his back, and walked toward T’Aria. He lifted his right hand, folded his fingers to the V-like salute.
“Peace,” he said, pausing for a second, he himself unsure why he had paused, before continuing, “and long life.”
There was a comfort to ritualized greetings, especially when they conveyed his sincere hopes for her – that she would have peace and that she would have a long life – in situations where emotional expression might otherwise be triggered.
That would have been culturally inappropriate for the rest of the crew to see.
Kastarak, Cpt
Commanding OfficerGiven permission to launch, the Chernov’s medical personnel exited the shuttle as the former CO had been made as comfortable as possible and the medic debriefed on his condition and needs. With that the shuttle’s ramp was closed and klaxons sounded throughout the bay, signaling that the shuttle was prepared to exit once the bay was cleared of crew.

Your Darkest NightmarePawl finished off what he needed from the control room as he placed it in standby mode after closing the shuttle bay doors and placing the atmospheric shield in standby mode. Basically, whoever is on the bridge can control the shuttlebay control room systems from the bridge. PAwl moved down to the main level of the shttule bay runway and docking platform. As the doors opened for him to enter as some of the others left. As he stopped a moment as he stared off into space, feeling the last emotion of the captain and others from the shuttle as the feeling faded into nothingness as he lost connection naturally by distance. Pawl sigh a bit harder than attended.

John heard pawl sigh “ you ok Chief” he asked him feel abit of concern for his friend.
