Lt. Forster always love to cook every so often he will cook for his team in the security office. All he needed was a hot plate to make great meals to feed his team and his friends. Today the ships cook gave him command of the galley after his shift.

today’s menu
Garlic butter, shrimp with noodles
Barbecue shrimp with rice and vegetables
Shrimp dumplings with soup

All is welcome to have dinner

Pawl entered the mess hall to an odd change he was not prepared for. As he noticed that someone different was doing the cooking this afternoon or evening. He was not sure what to do at that moment as he moved to the side of the door. So he would not be in the way of the others entering and exiting the room. He decided on a table in the far corner of the room and took a seat as he watched the others. The smell of food had excited him, it was something he was prepared for, but he was not going to miss an opportunity to try another new dish.

As he stood in the line that was forming to get his meal. “I think I will have some garlic butter shrimp and noodles, please.” Some garlic bread sticks and and a large glass of Iced tea to drink as he gathered a tray and silverware.” Pawl said calmly as he watched them get the food and drink ready for his as they set the food on his tray when it was prepared and complete. “Thank you!”He said kindly as he moved back to his table in the corner.

John saw the chief engineer enter and gather his food. He watched to see if he would be enjoying the meal. He then served up a fresh serving of noodles with shrimp. He poured a little bit of a sauce over the shrimp before putting them into the pot with the noodles for a good mixing.

Kastarak thought it necessary to attend the dinner for the morale of the crew. Forster had made a significant morale-fostering act, selfless and with the welfare of his crewmates in mind. Kastarak wished to honour this, even if he could not eat any of the food.

He entered the mess hall, indicating for everyone not to rise in attention. He walked up to chef Forster.

“This selfless act of yours for the crew’s morale honours you. I shall remember it.”

John looked up and slide a bowl of Vulcan soup with fresh root stock. “ a little taste of home is never too far away, sir.” He then went back to work in the kitchen. The Vulcan root stock. He used what was the last bit of stock that silver gave him. Silver has a small farm so he was sure he can get more from him.

Kastarak had definitely not expected that act. It came as a surprise to him. As he took the bowl in his hands, Kastarak felt the familiar aroma. This type of soup – or at least one with a similar smell to this one in his hands – was the first Vulcan meal he had had following his escape from Vulcan. It was that first smell of a home that no longer was, three weeks after Vulcan’s destruction. Until that time, he had eaten only the food available on the various ships and camps.

He looked into Forster’s eyes, “Thank you, Mr Forster, for preparing this for me.”

“No problem sir just let me know if you ever need a taste of home sir” he said as he got back to work cooking. He did enjoy cooking maybe he will open a restaurant when he retires from Starfleet

When Avery entered the mess hall, she was surprised to see it wasn’t running the usual way. New faces were behind the serving line and the aromas of what they were dished out, held a hint of something unpleasant. As she got closer to the line, she understood why. Everything had shrimp in it, not good for someone who avoided seafood of any kind.

When it was her turn, she asked, “Is there anything I can get that doesn’t have shrimp in it? I’m not a fan of anything that comes from the ocean.”

John made you a plate of noodles there was coated with a light garlic butter sauce. “Sorry I didn’t know that you did not like shrimp or any seafood. I’ll keep that in mind I can make you some spaghetti if you don’t like the noodles” he said after placing the plate down for her

She looked at the plate. “So, just noodles? There aren’t any sides or a salad or anything?” Her forehead wrinkled a bit with consternation. “Maybe I should have gone and gotten a drink instead. At least I’d have access to some protein in the peanuts on the bar.” It was an offhand remark. She didn’t yell and her voice wasn’t angry, just disappointed.

OOC: Is there a reason you’re being very negative to this player whose trying to do something good for the crew? You didn’t have to post here. You willingly wrote that. I’m not trying to confrontational her, but this is unsatisfactory.

OOC: Travis, I’m not being ‘very negative’ to this player. I’m creating ways to have a dialog with him. His character has taken over the dining hall and is only serving ‘shrimp’ dishes. You two can’t think that every officer on a starship would want to eat one of the 3 choices. Also, he made something special for Kasterak, so why can’t Avery also get something else? I’m not trying to make Isaak angry, I’m trying to play with his character. Calm down.

Calm down? Maybe explain to the other character via email or an OCC post before you do something like that. Not everyone can read minds or read between the lines. That is something with someone of your caliber and years in this club should know.
I don’t hold any ill will towards you but I will not tolerate that again. I understand where you were coming from and now hopefully that player will as well. This conversation is ended now between us unless you want to take it else where, which Suggest if you want to continue.

Matthew came in smelling the food and went to the counter. “Hello! I’m new here. Names Matthew Quigley. I’m the COO. I’d like to have some of what you’re cooking good sir.”

Pawl finished off his meal alone and at peace/as he gathered his items and placed them into the recycler. He left the area before anything could happen.

I think the issue here is that Forster had an open invitation for the crew to join him for a seafood dinner. The ship has a few hundred crewmembers – it would be impossible for him to feed them all, and thus, all who’d want to eat seafood would come along. I think it is a bit unreasonable for Kent to assume that Forster would just throw something up for her. Yet, when he does, Kent is disappointed. Kent’s behaviour and demeanour are both interesting (and it helps us understand Kent as a character more). Forster would not be unreasonable if he thought of her as rude. That said, I trust that this is all IC drama and no OOC drama between the writers behind Forster and Kent. If there is, please come to me and we can talk it through.

OOC: Of course I didn’t mean anything personal. I would never go after someone here, this is a game. Isaac’s post said his character ‘took over the galley’ and then it said ‘all are welcome to have dinner’. My character (not me) took the invitation for the experience and because she was hungry. I thought it was a good opportunity for Isaac and I to have a conversation between our characters and build some rapport. If Isaac took personal offense, he should have contacted me. If he asked Travis to speak for him, then Travis should have asked me in an email or in Discord. It was wrong to ask it here as I was accused of something untrue, and then told he will not tolerate it happening again and signed of as the CO. Well, that’s fine. I can leave the ship, that’s not a problem.
