<SNIP>“Oh that’s the easy part,” Tinker said speaking up from his station. “Most ships are relying on some sort of transponder to determine identity. Adjust that to be from an older cargo ship, and you are good on long range sensors. Closer up, we’ll have to play around with the warp field, otherwise that will give us away. It’s really the visual aspect that is harder to get right. Ship sensors are easy to get around if you know what you are doing. Even better if they are relying on Federation sensors, since we know those so well.
“But an actual person looking out a window, that’s harder sometimes to work around.”
Ensign Tinker - Engineer
Areiana stepped away from the crowded room, the soft hum of the ship growing quieter as she moved down the corridor. She stopped near an unused observation alcove, the stars outside casting pale light across the bulkhead. Taking a slow breath, she tapped the combadge on her chest.
“Lt. Blackford to Sickbay.”
A brief crackle answered her before a familiar voice came through the comm. “Sickbay here, go ahead Commander.”
Areiana glanced back toward the corridor for a moment. “I need a full status update. How are we looking on supplies and available staff?”
There was the faint sound of equipment beeping in the background before the reply came. “We’re stable for now. Main Sickbay is fully operational, Beta Bay is prepped and standing by. We’ve got thirty-two staff currently on rotation and trauma teams on alert.”
Areiana nodded slightly, though they couldn’t see her. “And any new cases?”
“Two in recovery minor one twisted his ankle and the other broke his wrist, both expected to pull through. No new emergencies in the last hour.”
“That’s something at least,” she muttered softly.
The doctor on the other end hesitated before speaking again. “You sound tired, Lt. Have you slept at all?”
A faint smirk crossed her face despite herself. “I’ll add it to my schedule eventually.”
“You said that yesterday.”
“And I was optimistic yesterday.”
That earned a quiet chuckle through the comm. For a moment the tension eased from her shoulders before her expression turned serious again.
“Keep me updated if anything changes,” Areiana said. “Especially if Security sends anyone down there. I have a bad feeling we’re not through this yet.”
“Acknowledged, Commander. Sickbay out.”
The line clicked dead. Areiana lowered her hand from the combadge and stared out at the endless stretch of stars for a long moment, the uneasy feeling in her chest refusing to go away.

Lieutenant Junior Grade Chief Medical Officer USS Chimera
She offered a nod towards Tinker without thinking much about their response. The hybrid’s head turning back to the display almost immediately. Comparing readings between a PADD’s screen and the actual console was proving more difficult than those activities Skye happened to be used to as a lower decker. It was rare for a science junior officer to spend so much time in the Combat Information Center without someone watching over her shoulder.
A light colored hand lifted towards the comm badge, considering alerting her on their current situation. But not before consulting with Ensign Shau, who had called on her to begin considering their options against the enemy vessel. Utilizing a gas giant provided them with a chance for evasive maneuvers ensuring to blind their sensors long enough for colonists to escape.
Shepherd’s shoulders for once seemed to lower in relaxation. Not many words had come from her mouth while pursuing all data available upon her console. As this seemed to be a task for engineering. She remained in position, just waiting for the next set of orders to follow.

U.S.S. Chimera - 98730 (Mjolnir Class)“Commander, not to overstep, but should I talk to the chief about getting a team on modifying a runabout?” Tinker said looking over at Commander Grady.
Ensign Tinker - Eng
Finn considered the option for a moment. Given the situation they were going into he wanted to have a variety of solutions ready and available for the captain. They might need to be able to pivot between them at a moment’s notice so best to have them all ready to go before they made it to the system.
Turning to the ensign the said, “Yes, let’s get working on that. I don’t know if we will end up using it but best not to put all the eggs in one basket.”
Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO
“You got it Commander. Though, I may leave the last part out when I tell the Lieutenant. Vulcans and all…” Tinker said with a small grin as he spun back around to the console and started sending a message to engineering.
“Sir, Lt Sapeth indicates that he will have a team on the mechanical deck modifying a runabout within the hour.”

NE Davis entered the CIC and approached the XO with a PaDD containing updated power utilisation, crew readiness, system efficiency numbers for his signature

USS ChimeraFinn chuckled a bit as he accepted the PaDD from the NE and responded to Ensign Tinker, “Good call Ensign, best to keep the language precise when speaking to the Vulcans.”
He glanced down at the PaDD and tapped his approval before handing it back to the NE with a polite smile.
Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO
“Thank you sir,” The Ensign replied before turning and leaving the bridge.
