Jaxon “Hawk” Hammond was born in 2349 on Cestus III to John Hammond, a civilian logistics expert, and Elaine Hammond, a Starfleet Corps of Engineers officer who specialized in planetary infrastructure projects. He is the eldest of two children, with his younger sister, Sarina Hammond, working as a Federation researcher on Betazed. Growing up on a frontier world instilled in him a strong sense of discipline, tactical awareness, and the survival skills necessary for thriving in harsh environments. His mother’s engineering work and his father’s logistics background gave him an early appreciation for operational planning and problem-solving.

At eighteen, Jaxon entered the Starfleet Marine Academy, where he excelled in both infantry tactics and aerospace operations. Selected for a Tier One special operations program, he trained extensively in stealth insertion, reconnaissance, close-quarters combat, and combat aviation. By 2373, when the Dominion War erupted, Jaxon—then a 24-year-old Lieutenant—was immediately deployed to frontline operations. Flying Peregrine-class attack fighters, supplied by the Maquis, he engaged Dominion and Cardassian forces in high-risk engagements while also serving as a team radio specialist and rifleman in ground-based special operations.

During Operation Return, he played a crucial role in securing air superiority over Deep Space 9, executing precision strikes that allowed Starfleet assault teams to break through Dominion defenses. He later participated in ground combat at AR-558, calling in air support for entrenched Starfleet Marines while fighting alongside them. By the war’s end in 2375, he had been promoted to Captain, earning multiple commendations for valor, tactical ingenuity, and exceptional leadership under fire.

Through his thirties and forties, Jaxon refined his command expertise, advancing through roles in both Marine aviation and ground combat units. Promoted to Lieutenant Colonel, he played a key role in updating Starfleet Marine doctrines, focusing on air-ground integration and rapid deployment strategies. His leadership style—demanding but fair—earned him deep respect among his subordinates. His call sign, “Hawk,” became synonymous with precision and battlefield awareness.

Now, in 2401, Colonel Hammond has been newly assigned to the USS Chimera as both Marine Contingent CO and Commander, Air Group. While he has not yet stepped aboard, he will soon assume command of the ship’s Marine Air-Ground Task Force (MAGTF), overseeing a battalion of 600 ground Marines and an aviation wing consisting of six multi-role squadrons. Each squadron operates 12 fighters (72 total), supported by ground crew, ordnance teams, and tactical support personnel.
