Freja wasn’t exactly sure where Colonel Hammond was, but truthfully, walking into Flight Ops had two purposes. After her research in her ready room, her mind was unsettled, and a slow jaunt through the ship checking up on all departments might help settle it. At least she hoped. She also needed Hammond’s opinion, whatever he could give, on Voss. If the Colonel wasn’t in his office, one of his crew was sure to tell him that the CO of the ship was wandering around.

It had been a while since she’d set foot here too; she needed to get into the habit of visiting all areas of her ship a bit more often. She nodded at the crewmembers milling about, careful to avoid interfering with their duties while she observed.

Hammond sat in his office pouring through the reports for the day, his assistant turned and left, “Thank you” he said briefly. Sgt moore walked past the captain. “Sir” he said briefly and waited for her to respond and or enter the Colonel’s quarters.

“Sgt,” Freja nodded, “Is the Colonel available for a brief chat?”

Halmond looked down at Kilo a moment, who simply snorted and put her head back down. “Please, come in, help yourself to something to drink, forgive me if I don’t get up lots of moving parts at the moment” he said as he send a few confirmations out with the tap of a finger.

“No it’s alright, I thought it best to come to you rather than summon you to me based on what I’m about to ask you,” Freja explained, opting to come right out with it, she always hated when her commanders engaged in small talk before they handed her some news that needed digesting or her opinion on, “I don’t know what research you’ve done yourself on our mission, but Colonel Aldric Voss, the commander of the Cinzano. He’s confirmed a rebel, he’s part of their council. I’ve read what logs he’s provided and it seems he got frustrated with command’s response to his reports. I’m obviously not a marine, never was, so I want to avoid trying to equate his situation with one of a starfleet officer’s experience however similar they might be. Prior to his assignment to Scallax, he was a model marine with 20 years service, so I guess what I’m trying to get my head around is how bad do things get to make a Marine essentially walk out on the job. Also, how dangerous might he be if he decides we are his enemy?”

OOC: Sorry for being so off lately.

After receiving an inquiry from Ryan, I gift you the following info and Ryan can decide how he wants to play Jax’s relation to it.

Voss was brought in to run insider threat detection within a Marine division stationed in the Ronaro System in the Maxian Sector. Ronaro Prime was chosen as the regional base following the Dominion War and is the next closest inhabited system to the Setlik system. A Marine was suspected of passing information to Cardassian agents and the marine later disappeared. Voss was instrumental in plugging the leak and Marine scuttlebutt is that Voss had the man black bagged but no one knows anything for sure.

Hammond leanedd back in his chair, straight to the point he liked that. He was not much for dancing around issues in a verbal word salad to get where he was going. He could and was very good at it when he needed to be, this was not one of those times. “I don’t know the man, though I did meat him once at a dedication. ” he looked her in the eyes. “He is a Marine, one with a long dedicated carrer to protect the federation. Is he capable of treason, I don’t know, but I can state two things.” He looked out the port hole. “If he feels he needs to do so, then it was not a trivial thing that caused him to turn his back on his oath,” he did not offer the second yet, he did not want to speak it out loud.

“I wouldn’t think so myself; things would have to be pretty bad for me to question my commission,” Freja nodded, “I guess that answers my question, we should be cautious and perhaps open-minded to hearing the rebels out. I plan on approaching this mission as a fact-finding one, that is, as far as the rebel council is concerned, I’m just here to figure out where things went wrong and ensure anyone who wishes to stay a Federation citizen gets that opportunity. Of course we’re going to have to figure out who is loyal, because clearly that’s not a simple question in light of Voss.”

“Captain, ” he said with a pause, how could he relay his mission without relaying his mission. “Im under orders to get our people out of harms way, especially the lab” he paused for effect. “Nothing can stop that proccess” he noted, the moved to the last thing he could tell her about.

“Voss is a Marine, that also means he will complete his mission or he will die trying, do not underestimate his resolve” he said as a sharp warning hoping she could back track the meaning to his own mission.
