Snip
Several minutes passed before the first simulation package completed. The results confirmed the planned sensor network would function throughout the asteroid field, though not without degradation. Areas of higher asteroid density produced intermittent sensor loss and reduced data quality as electromagnetic interference, shifting gravimetric fields, and the constant movement of the surrounding asteroids compounded over time. While the projected data return remained well within acceptable scientific parameters, maintaining continuous coverage of the entire survey area would require further refinement before deployment.Mr Centauri GM extraordinaire
T’Pris studied the simulation results as they populated the central display, reviewing each projection with characteristic precision before turning her attention to Lieutenant Buchanan. “The initial analysis has produced encouraging results, Lieutenant.”
She adjusted the holographic display, highlighting several regions of the asteroid belt where sensor coverage fluctuated.
“The proposed telemetry network is projected to function throughout the survey area. However, the simulations indicate progressive performance degradation within the denser regions of the belt. Electromagnetic interference, localized gravimetric fluctuations, and the continual movement of the surrounding asteroids combine to reduce sensor fidelity and produce intermittent gaps in telemetry.”
A series of probability curves appeared alongside the deployment matrix. “Despite these limitations, projected data acquisition remains within acceptable scientific tolerances. The network should provide sufficient coverage to support our search objectives. Nevertheless, maintaining continuous surveillance across the entire operational area will require additional refinement before deployment is authorized.” She regarded the engineering officer with a slight inclination of her head.
“Lieutenant Waban’s recommendation to isolate the environmental variables before introducing compound effects has proven… beneficial. It has allowed Science to distinguish which performance losses are attributable to individual hazards and which arise only when those hazards interact.” Her fingers moved across the console, marking several buoy positions for revision.
“I intend to adjust the deployment geometry to reduce the burden on probes operating within the highest-interference regions. Once those modifications have been incorporated, I would appreciate Engineering conducting a second series of simulations to verify whether the revised network improves long-term stability and sensor retention.”
T’Pris folded her hands behind her back once more.“For the present, I believe your department has provided Science with precisely the information required. Your team’s assistance has been both timely and… efficient.”

Just bumping to keep on the boards while waiting for the CE.
~Dr. T’Pris
Kaden looked up to T’Pris from what he was looking at on his screen, “I am still awaiting information from engineering about the simluations and what they provided. I am going to reach out to them again.”
Kaden was annoyed at the fact he had not hear back from his engineering team. He hit is badge and said, =/\=Chief Buchanan to engineering, have there been any updates on the simulations as of yet? Please provide the details to the science lab.=/\= He then waited for a response. He was confused on why it seems it was taking a while to get a response from them.
Lt. Buchanan
Chief EngineerT’Pris inclined her head slightly in acknowledgment as Lieutenant Buchanan reopened communications with Engineering. “That course of action is logical, Lieutenant.”
She returned her attention to the sensor deployment model, making several subtle refinements to the buoy spacing based upon the preliminary simulation data already available. Probability matrices shifted incrementally across the display as she adjusted projected coverage within the regions of highest interference.
“Science will continue refining the deployment algorithms while Engineering completes its analysis. Utilizing this interval efficiently should minimize the time required for our next round of simulations.”
Folding her hands once more behind her back, the Vulcan stood in composed silence, her attention alternating between the evolving telemetry projections and the engineering status indicator, patiently awaiting Lieutenant Waban’s report.

USS WolverineBumping to put back on the board.
~Dr. T’Pris
=/\=Lt Buchanan here. Thank you for the information, engineering. I guess the 1% increase in life is better than nothing. Please continue working on simulations to see if we can get anything out of it. Buchanan over.=/\=
He then pulled up the new specs for the probes on how to get that 1% life out of it so he could investigation what was needed to get this increase in life out of the probes. He entered a few things on the computer after reading the data and wanted to see what the computer said about his changes.
He then looked over at T’Pris and said, “According to the simulations, the only bonus we can get on the probes is a 1% life expectancy out of the probes. Nothing else, which is a bummer. Are we ready to make the changers to the probes so we can get them out into space to gather the data we need?” Kaden then waited for a response from the doctor.
Kaden thought to himself it was interesting the only thing the computer could come up with was a 1% increase in the life of the probes but maybe it was just far fetched to hope for anything else. Maybe the area was worse off than he had initially believed. He was just hoping they could gather enough data, even with this limitation.
Lt. Buchanan
Chief EngineerT’Pris regarded Buchanan for a moment, one eyebrow rising slightly at his characterization of the result as a “bummer.” Her attention shifted back to the simulation data, reviewing the projected improvement before responding.
A one-percent increase is statistically modest. It is, however, measurable. Dismissing a measurable improvement merely because it is small would be illogical.
“An increase of one percent is limited, Lieutenant, but it remains an improvement. Given the environmental conditions within the asteroid field, expecting substantially greater gains without compromising other probe systems may be unrealistic.”
She entered several commands into the science console, incorporating Engineering’s revised specifications into the deployment parameters.
“Science has refined the deployment geometry sufficiently to compensate for the remaining limitations. I see no logical benefit in delaying deployment in pursuit of improvements that the simulations indicate are unlikely to be achieved.”T’Pris turned toward Buchanan, her hands settling behind her back. “Proceed with the modifications, Lieutenant. Once Engineering has completed them, Science will perform a final verification of the sensor packages. Assuming no anomalies are detected, the probes will be ready for deployment.”

OOC: Sorry I missed this.
Kaden looked at the Vulcan and responded, “I was just hoping for a little more out of the little probes. I know 1% is better than nothing. I will work with my engineering team in order to get the changes made so we can use the probes with the additional data found during our simulations.”
He then hit his comm badge to contact engineering, =/\=Lt Buchanan to Engineering, can you all work on getting the changes made to the probes for myself and Dr T’Pris in order to get them launched? Please let me know when they are ready to go.=/\=
Kaden then started running a few tests on the probes himself by pulling up the data from the simulations. He wanted to be prepared to know what changes were going to be made in order to better monitor the probes when they were launched. He wanted to see if he could identify anything else as they launched the probes to help with the amount and accuracy of the data which was going to be collectec.
