Lia smirked. “Simple, but effective can be good, you know,” she commented, glancing over her shoulder at Franklin as he worked on his scans before quickly returning her attention to their surroundings.

Adrie, Sec

The man looked over at her and made a slightly mocking version of the stereotypical Quirked Vulcan Brow. “In space?! You don’t wanna be sure you’ve got at least one back up of a system like Life Support?” Franklin shook his head with a chuckle and began searching for a physical port he could connect his Tricorder to so he could communicate with the ship’s computer.

After looking around for a while, Franklin found what appeared to be the Klingon equivalent of an engineering control console. It did have a physical port on it, but not one capable of fitting anything from his vastly more modern Tricorder. Apparently this ship was still using duotronics, a computing technology that had been superceeded about 90 years ago…

As he was looking over the instrument panel, he would note that there were scorch marks around some parts of the control panel.

The engineer made a rather disappointed sounding grunt as he bent to examine the control console. “I was worried this might be the case…” He muttered as he ran the tricorder scanner over the scorch marks on the console. “I’ll have to send for some special diagnostic tools in order to get into the system. This old wreck has a system that still uses the old duotronic circuits. Dammit.” While he waited for the results from his further scanning, he tapped his comm badge to open a channel to Europa.

=/\=Hey Chief, Franklin here… We don’t happen t’ have any diagnostic scanners old enough to connect to a Duotronic Circuit do we? I won’t be able to get into the Core systems without one, I’m afraid…/=/\=

=/\=Copy that, Chief. Standing By./=/\= Franklin sent via comm badge as he looked back down at his readings impatiently.

Having rolled her eyes at Franklin’s remark back to her, Lia found somewhere to lean against that wouldn’t disturb the engineering systems. She silently watched Franklin work while making sure to stay aware of their surroundings.

As Lia leaned, there was a loud crash as a pan full of metal objects fell to the floor, and clattered all across the deck plating.

IC: “&@%$*#&@^” Franklin yelled a few exotic swear words as he flinched and pulled his phaser out of reflex. Immediately he began looking around the room for the source of the noise. The crash had given him a good scare and he didn’t take too kindly to that… “Jesus, Mary, and Joseph…” He muttered, trying to calm his heart rate by breathing deeply.
