Finn stepped out of the briefing room and onto the CIC. He made his way over to his seat and nodded to the relief officer there, taking over command. He glanced at a few status reports to make sure there were no pressing issues and then looked over to the helm station.

“Helm, set a course for the Scallax system, Warp 7.5, and let’s get moving. Keep an eye peeled for the Favereau so we can link up with them along the way.”

He settled back into the seat and waited for the familiar shift in the ship that would indicate they had gone to warp.

“Sir,” the duty officer stated. “Station Operations has confirmed the last crew member was returned approx 20 minutes ago.”

Hammond stepped into the C.I.C a warm cup of coffee in hand and kilo at his side. Late night calls had kept him up most the night and now the rushed deployment meant he would not likely sleep till late. “Commander,” he said.

Sean had been at Helm for a few moments, checking status reports and getting things ready. He had work to do to prepare for the mission ahead, but he wanted to get the Chimera going first.

“Course set, commander,” Moore called out. “Departing system and engaging warp… now.” He tapped the console and the ship lurched into motion. “ETA approximately 2 days, 12 hrs, sir.” The helmsman remained at his posting for the time being, ensure the beginning steps went smoothly.

Finn nodded, “Thank you Lieutenant. Feel free to see if you can shave off any of that time with magic pilot tricks or short cuts.”

Satisfied that their journey was underway he glanced over at Colonel Hammond and noticed the cup of coffee. He realized that he hadn’t yet taken the opportunity to get something for himself since he got dragged out of bed earlier in the morning. He stood and went over to one of the replicators to grab himself one. He decided on a mocha this morning to give himself a bit more comfort and then made his way over to where the Colonel was standing.

“Colonel, sorry about the early morning,” he said with a nod.

“mmm, Is what it is, I’m up early just did not get my workout in” he said with a grin. “I’ll have the knight start prepping I would like them out the gate the moment we drop out of warp, We should get a CAP up quickly” he noted he let out a sigh. “We got a lot to planning to do in the next 12hrs, the moment we drop out of warp the insurgents are gonna know we are in system. ”

Finn nodded, “I suppose the Chimera is not exactly subtle so you’re probably right. Let me know what you need for us to do to provide support once we get there. As we get closer we can figure out a more precise location to drop to impulse, maybe there are some features in the system that would at least allow us to get a bit of a jump on them.”

He requested the system be brought up on the view board, He looked over the system for gas giants with ionized rings or other features that might shied their approach. “If we can find the right place then maybe we an get a team in unnoticed?” he asked.

Finn stood next to the colonel and glanced at the star map. “Unnoticed is exactly what should be on the menu for this mission, I think. Of course we are going to have Favereau hanging around with us too. Maybe we can have them take up position outside the system while we go in.... or… maybe they can be a diversion to get us in there with less of a welcoming party.”

“I would say have them out till we get a better picture of what’s going on”, he shifted, “here there were a lot of reports of smuggling in this sector, long range scans will look like they are just following up and its a quick jump here” he said looking over the system data.

Finn nodded, “That makes good sense. Hopefully we will rendez-vous with them soon and can coordinate the plan.”

He took another look at the star map and let out a small sigh. “I have to admit, this seems like it might be quite the pickle we are flying into. Separatists and hijacked star ships? When was the last time anything like this even happened? I trust that the crew is going to do what needs to be done but this is… daunting to say the least.”

The Comms officer chimed in “Sir, I have a long range communication from the USS Favereau.”

Hammond gave a small nod, “I guess the Marines are a little more prepared for things like this, thought those on this ship are pretty green. His thoughts drifted back to the dominion war and a few of the hold outs that had to be put down. “Not for a long time com…” he was interrupted by the incoming message.

Finn turned toward the viewscreen and then addressed the Comms officer, “Put it on screen.”

As he waited for channel to open he wondered briefly what they were getting themselves into. While he didn’t know anything about the Favereau, he had great trust in the abilities of the officers aboard the Chimera and the marine officers they carried with them. Still, two starships, no matter their skill, against an unknown rebellion that seemed to have successfully taken over an entire colony system was going to be a formidable task.
