“Contact the away team, they are running out of time,” Freja ordered, “How long until they’re on us?”

~Freja Anreassen~

OOC: My laptop just pooched itself today, so I’m posting on my tablet until I can get a new one, so please excuse any typos!

T’Leia checked for the eta time for the corrupted ships.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

OOC: Merry Christmas to all, I will be LOA but will check in off and on when I can.:)

Just a bump to get it on the boards again:)

Jorem walked onto the CIC of the Chimera and checked with the telepathic members of the crew who were there, the CSO, T’Leia, in particular, to make sure they were fine. He also looked checked in on the CO, Andreassen, he knew she was empathic rather than telepathic, but if the captain went down, there was likely noone to take command around.

For him, it was the annoying stretched out taunts from the Pickett that was giving him a headache, he could only imagine it was far worse for them.

Lt Ekaton Jorem, CNS, Chimera

T’Leia as a Vulcan had had training in psychic shields so was in no current distress from the outside influence. She was aware of it but did not allow it past her shields. She nodded to the Counselor to let him know she was fine.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

The Captain locked eyes briefly with the Counselor, nodding. It was clear that the CO was still very much in control of herself. As her abilities developed, her parents ensured to include solid psychic shielding training. If she had a headache, she certainly wasn’t giving any indication on the bridge, focusing instead on observing the actions of her crew and waiting for updates from the away team.

~Freja Andreassen~

OCC Im deeply sorry about the delay folks

“ETA on the rest of the Entity fleet 15 minutes Charges are set for 15 minutes as well The rest of the fleet is responding from the nebula They are in route they are 15 minutes out as well” The Ops NE said

“Understood, keep an eye on those ETAs, any change let me know,” Freja nodded.

~Freja Andreassen~

“Aye, Captain.” T’Leia said as she watched her sensors carefully. “Captain, should we prepare a discharge of radiation from the deflector dish to try and slow the corrupted ships as the shuttle comes out?”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

“I’m willing to give it a shot if you want to prepare one,” Freja replied with a grin.

~Freja Andreassen~

“Aye, Ma’am.” T’Leia said as her fingers flew over her board as she programmed the deflector to be ready to emit the radiation on command.

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Lieutenant Commander Finn Grady entered the CIC with purpose coming from the thing he had been doing. He moved quickly over to his seat next to the captain and gave her a nod as he sat down. “Ma’am.”

He gave a quick perusal of the status console next to his chair and then glanced up to take a visual inventory of how the officers were handling things.

“Good work, Lieutenant. Do we need to adjust position at all for that to work?” he called over to Lt. T’Leia

Lieutenant Commander Finn Grady - XO

“I would suggest that attempt to keep between those ships and our shuttle, to try and provide some type of protection for them. Our shuttle bay is stern, so if we keep our back to the shuttle they hopefully will be able to dock while we keep off the corrupted ships.”

Lt. T’Leia CSO

Ens Shau gripped the side of the tactical station as he saw the Pickett on screen again. It wasn’t that long ago that he was fleeing that same ship on a shuttle with Cmdr Thol.

Despite being assigned to the Chimera after receiving medical treatment onboard the Tribute, MJ had thought he’d be able to return to the Pickett one day. But now… this mission… we’re blowing her up. He clenched his jaw and refocused on the task at hand. Better that then letting the enemy keep her and sully her good name.

The young security officer’s fingers flew across the console as he verified the status of the weapon modifications, trying to see what the Chimera had available if they were forced to make contact with the enemy in 15 minutes.

He was glad to see that Chimera’s crew had managed to gain something practical from the sample they took. The scientists and engineers seemed confident the torpedoes and phasers would harm the entity… but MJ didn’t take anything for granted.

Dealing with a new enemy meant intelligence was at a premium. The corruption weapon appeared to be short ranged… but the entity could extend its range by sending out those odd fighters. We also have to take into account the ships that were taken over, and figure out how much of their original capabilities they still have.

OOC: I couldn’t find it when I went back to search, but I believe I saw that at least some torpedoes and phaser arrays were modified (or being modified) with the ion radiation. If you can confirm if all or just some (if it impacts how we’d have to fight) of the weapons have been modified I would appreciate it.

Trying to jump in and be useful. If I have something wrong please let me know. (Glad to be aboard!)

ENS MJ Shau - Security Officer - USS Chimera

Conner was in his quarters when his communicator pinged-a call from the CIC.

=^=Lt. Reid, this is Ens. Fife, manning the security station in the CIC. I think it would be a good idea if you got down here. I think something is about to hit the fan.=^=

The security chief replied as the doors swooshed open before him. =^=On my way, ensign.=^=

Moments later, Conner appeared in CIC. He glanced at the holo-screen as he approached the security station.

“Read me in, Fife, as best you can in thirty seconds,” he ordered.

Ens. Fife took a deep breath and relayed everything going on to the CoS.

  • . . . . and that’s it, sir,” Fife finished.

“I’ll take over. You’re relieved.”

Fife replied, “Aye, sir”, as he logged off the console and stepped away.

In one fluid motion, Conner stepped up and seamlessly made the transition. After logging in, he took a deeper look around CIC to see who was manning each station. At the tactical console, he saw someone he didn’t recognize. A new security JO that hadn’t checked in with his DH yet. Time to do that later. Right now, Conneer focused on the situation at hand.

Lt. Conner Reid
Chief of Security-USS Chimera

MJ was still busy at the auxiliary tactical station along the outer wall of CIC.

Not only was he concerned with the availability and readiness of the weapons modified with ion radiation from the nebula, but he needed to be familiar with the locations and effective angles of each of the Chimera’s weapon systems. Ensign Shau didn’t expect to man the main tactical station anytime soon, but he hadn’t expected for the Pickett to be taken over and most of its crew killed, either.

Thinking of all the friends he lost made the knot in his stomach twist and tighten up again. He took a deep breath to center himself, and did his best to push thoughts thoughts aside. Not now… the mission comes first.

He noted some activity behind him and glanced back to see a turnover finish up at the main tactical station. It’s not shift change yet… so I’m guessing that must be the Chief of Security. MJ felt a different sensation this time… as his chest tightened in a flash of embarrassment.

Ensign Shau had wanted to become familiar with the ship and the current tactical situation before checking in with his department head. He hoped that would help show the man he’d be an asset to his team.

Instead, the first time my new boss sees me is CIC, where it probably looks like I’ve given myself permission to stand watch without even checking in.

MJ sighed, and decided to bite the bullet. Bad news doesn’t get better with age, as they say. He stood from his console and approached Lt Reid, his posture professional. “Sir, I’m Ensign Shau, your new check in. They just shuttled me over from the Tribute earlier today. I was trying to acquaint myself with the ship and the current situation before checking in with you, but I can retire to quarters if you need that station for another officer.”

Ensign Shau was only average in height, but had broad shoulders and a muscular build. He had tan skin, dark curly hair, and a stubbly beard. Other than that, his most notable feature was the symbol on his forehead that marked him as a Risian.

OOC: Um… hi Boss!

Ensign MJ Shau - Security Officer - USS Chimera

Grady nodded at the security chief as he took his station, glad to have the post filled by the senior officer for the moment, but also appreciating the contributions the junior officers were giving at the moment. The crew seemed to be working together seamlessly.

Lieutenant Commander Grady - XO

MJ noticed the XO out of the corner of his eye, but didn’t take his attention from Lt Reid. Ensign Shau was determined to salvage what he could of his botched check in.

“What’s the status on the away team?” The XO called out.

The newly reported Security Officer managed to hold back a flinch. His instincts were telling him to support the XO, but he wasn’t officially on duty yet. Best to let the duty officers in CIC answer the question while I try to smooth things over with the new boss.

Ensign MJ Shau - Security Officer - USS Chimera

Reid looked down at the console and reported what he knew.

“If they haven’t yet, the away team should be boarding the shuttle and be preparing to return, commander.”

Turning his attention back to the junior security officer, Conner continued, “Well, you’re here right now, Ens. Shau, so I’m going to temporarily clear you for duty, unless there’s something I should know about your physical and mental well-being?”

“Take over the station and show me what you’ve got.” he added while trying to hide a small smirk. “But we’re going to have a nice talk about proper boarding protocols, if you don’t get us blown up first.”

Lt. Conner Reid
Chief of Security-USS Chimera

MJ nodded gratefully as Lt Reid’s spoke and made his decision. “Yes Sir. I’m more than capable of manning the auxiliary console to back you up. Thank you.”

Ensign Shau left the Chief of Security at the main tactical station and returned to the aux console at the edge of CIC.
