Teek’ma palmed open the security gate and smiled as a couple ‘morning regulars’ wandered in and caf as well as breakfast and lunches were ordered. Some were getting off shift and looking for a quick bite before sleep claimed them. But the majority were morning folks for first shift. ‘Morning’ was such a relative term in space. The only thing denoting morning and night were scattered chrono pieces here and there, set to local time of the nearest planet that oriented the orbiting ships and stations to the same ‘time’ so folks had a way to mark time. In all reality, every day, minute and hour was ‘night’ in the darkness of space.

Teek smiled to several folks as she moved to the back corner where a small table served as a makeshift office out here where she could keep an eye on things. She had an office in the back, and vids to show her everything, but it wasn’t the same. Sitting down and picking up one of the PADDs beside her, she began making a list of requisition supplies she need. Other PADDs held duty rosters, events, menus and other things the middle aged manager of the club needed to run her establishment out here in the reaches of space.

Nisihe walked in, a tired look upon her face, however it was quickly masked by the faint smile that was generally played across the genial features of the young doctor. She wasn’t really interested in food, as breakfast was the one meal that was incredibly situational, for her. Here only to check up on the manager/owner, and see how she was doing, medically, she suspected she would be on her way, very soon. Quietly, she headed towards one of the workers, asking where she could find Ms. Downs.

As Teek’ma came out of the back room, PADD in hand, the young lady pointed her out to Odraavi. “There is Ms Teek’ma,” she said.

“Why, thank you.” Doctor Odraavi responded towards the young lady, her smile unwavering in simple gratitude.

The sound of her name made the manager glance up. A smile lit her features as she saw the doctor. “Well, hey, Did! Come on in. Trina, two tea please.” She nodded to the woman the doc has hailed and then motioned her to a quiet back table. “Didn’t expect to see you here. To what do I owe the honor?” She sat down in one of the chairs and motioned the doc to take the other.

Odraavi took a seat across from the Manager, clasping her hands casually on the table, discovering the atmosphere of the place was far more welcoming than she had initially suspected. “Breakfast isn’t exactly a known meal to us medical officials,” Nisihe joked, shaking her head with an amused smile. “Well, Sickbay seems pretty in tune with checking on the officers of this fine starbase. But, not too many of my Junior Officers are too keen on talking to civilians, so I’m just stopping by to see how you are doing.”

Teek’ma recognized the doctor and was shocked at the personal visit. It showed plainly on her face. “Well, gracious. And they say ‘house calls’ are an antiquated thing of the past.” She called back to the girl who had directed Odraavi to her “Two specials please, and tea.”

“Mm.. I’m not most doctors.” She winked, shaking her head. Of course, Odraavi was never fond of these little things called ‘house calls,’ but that didn’t mean she didn’t go out to attend to them, if they were needed. After all, did any doctors like house calls?

“Well special occasion it is then. I’ll introduce you to ‘breakfast’.” She laughed and settled down with the woman. “I’m actually doing well, thank you. Though you didn’t have to come all the way down here. I could have come to you, ya know. But honestly, the sleeping pills you gave me after the alien attack did their job. And I’ve actually managed to sleep fine the last few weeks without them.”

“Oh, I am exceptionally excited to be immersed into the world of the non-medical folk.” The sarcasm was thick on her tone, but the glint within her eyes denoted nothing less than amusement, as her use of the refined skill was purely facetious as opposed to intended for any deragatory result. “That is wonderful! Keep them, just in case you might need them in the future. I know most doctors would remove them, if not in use, but you don’t seem as if you would abuse such substances.”

The night terrors the club manager had suffered after the station had been under attack had been so viscous that she’s gotten help sleeping from the doc. But time had healed hey mind, for the most part, and she was back to taking herbal tea to sleep, instead. “How have you been doing?”

While most folks wouldn’t ask a doc that, it was in Teek’s personality to care about those who took time to look after her.

Surprise. It etched across her features like a sly grin in the form of parted lips, as she seemed at a loss for words. How was she doing? Wasn’t the question supposed to be the other way around? Gosh.. other she had become too accustomed to being a doctor, or she needed to get out more. Either way, it was a bit sad she was so dumbstruck by the question.

“Me? Oh! Fine.” Odraavi assured with that characteristic smile, “Just making sure the base is healthy, personnel-wise.”

Teek smiled and patted the woman’s hand with a slight laugh. “It’s ok to be the one on the receiving end, occasionally.” She sat back as their food arrived. “So… Doc… Let me introduce you to breakfast. Breakfast, this is the Doc.” She winked and reached over to hand the woman a fork. “A cup of stimulant to open your eyes isn’t enough. A person on the go, like yourself, needs more than that.”

“A pleasure to meet your acquaintance, breakfast.” There was nothing short of facetious amusement littering her tone, as she took the fork with a grateful incline of her head. “It seems like you’re more of a doctor than I am, at this point.” She joked, noting the nutritional information, of sorts, she was offering.

As she lifted her own fork, she took a chance on surprising the woman again. “Has anyone checked on YOU recently? That whole fiasco with the murder here, then alien takeover and explosions, was all crazy! Are you doing ok? I’m guessing you never were told to talk a couple days to get yourself back together, huh?”

“Ah.. no. We doctors have a way of being seen as the trauma-healers, nobody really expects us to have emotional issues. That is, just as people would never assume a Captain to express fear. Stigmas, if you would.” She offered a small humm, along with her words. While having not been spoken to about the need for rest, she hadn’t exactly asked for it either, making it a twoway street. “Nope! There is no sleep for the mighty, not in our neck of the woods.. or space, really.”

Depending on the woman’s answer, the manager of the club thought she may have to have a word with the station overseer. Even trauma staff needed a break now and then.

“What of you, Teek’ma? You might not be Starfleet, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t impacted by our foolishness. Thus, how have you been?”

Having struck out at the Blue Note, Mord made his way over to the busier club, the Mystique, and slid in the back, starting to people watch. He didn’t interact with anyone, not at first, but he took his tabled and a PaDD and began to write down the occasional note about people he saw.

Mord’s entrance wasn’t lost on Teek’ma. Very little was. Shifting her seat as if making herself better able to eat, she kept half an eye on the man taking notes. Plenty of folks came in here to write up shift reports, update records, even correspondences home weren’t out the ordinary. It wasn’t that he was writing that made her curious, it was wondering what he was writing ‘about’ that made her keep half an eye on him.

“Is something wrong?” Nisihe dared to ask. Despite being a telepath, she didn’t exactly actively respond to the change in emotion or aura of a room, or even notice it, at times.
