Mia was glad to hear that a new COO had been found for the Star Base. She left Ike’s around the Blue Note and touched her comm badge =^=Lt Redana please join me at theBlue Note.=^=Mia said politely.

The Haliian was clearly on duty today as she stepped in with her gold trimmed uniform and her dark brown hair pulled back into a sleek ponytail. But it was with a smile that she approached Mia. “You were next on my list. I’m glad you called,” she said openly.

Lt. (j.g) Rendana, COO

Mia laughed “Well, once I learned that we had a new COO, I figured I’d head off any questions at the pass.” She said realizing that she had been the COO that had brought the Starbase to life when they first arrived. She had seen some things aboard the station that were hard to explain “That and I am taking the kids on a short vacation for about a week.” She said leading Rendana to her private table in the Blue Note.

“Well, that sounds like a nice plan,” Avalise said with a smile. “How old are your kids?”

The Blue Note itself was lavishly decorated in a 30’s and 40’s motif. There were private booths scattered around the large room and then there were tables all around the room. In front of the stage there was a large dance floor. Currently the music was coming through speakers rather than live music. Avalon 5 would start playing in several hours.

Mia sat down as Beth brought over menus and order PaDDs. Mia set hers aside, she already knew what she wanted “Order what you want Lt. It’s on the house.” She said as she put in her order and submitted it. “What questions do you have about the Starbase?” Mia asked taking a quick drink of water.

Rendana found the decor interesting, but had no cultural reference for the era. But that made it all the more intriguing as she sat with Mia. She hadn’t planned on a meal but nonetheless found the offer welcoming. “First, tell me what you’d order and I’ll try it. I’ve eaten a wide range of fare over my life, but I have no idea what you think would be best and I’m curious.”

Mia smiled “I would say the bbq ribs and some potato salad.” She said “And for dessert, a nice peach cobbler.” She added “How are you doing as the new Chief of Operations?” She asked “It can be daunting at times.”

“I’ve never had… ribs and potato salad, but I’ll give it a try,” Avalise said with a smile. “As for the job, it’s coming along. Just trying to find my footing. I’ve been an assistant before, but this is the first time the department has been fully mine and it’s a lot bigger here! I’ll take any advice you can give me,” she said.

Mia smiled “Trust your engineers, they know this station inside and out. They can tell you when something is wrong before you even know it.” Mia said as she sent their orders to the kitchen for preparation “Docking ring 5 section 2 is usually problematic just after passenger liners come in. I don’t know what they do, and we’ve watched them dock and it seems fine but they leave and it takes a day or two to get it back into working order.” Mia added as Anne brought one of the twins out to her “Emma is being fussy and won’t calm down.” She said “Nick and Mitzi are still playing.”

Mia looked at Rendana “Sorry about that, this is the reason I chose to leave the COO position.” She said “Now, as for advice, running daily diagnostics on the main sensor array and the computers will help stave off problems.” She looked at Rendana “Why don’t you ask me questions and I’ll answer them.” Mia suggested “That way I can give you the information you need rather than me rambling on and on....”
