The Russian Tea Room was a icon of the old Earth city of New York. Located ina somewhat out of place building; the one on Oed V was clean, well-maintained, and was opulent for the surrounding area… an out of the way neighborhood near the city’s government area. A deep red carpet led up to two large marble doors with silver hardware. Above the door was carved ‘The Russian Tea Room, OED V’.

The unique first-floor welcomed guests with intimate leather banquettes in Russian red, golden samovars, Christmas-decorated chandeliers, period paintings, and shining green walls. The lush red carpeting had an exquisite 20th century Russian motif, while the ceiling glimmered with gold leaves and the exotic firebirds decorated the walls.

It was here that Vonn sat, in their usual booth far in the back near the doors to the kitchen. The Breen was a well-known and highly respected figure with both the staff and the owners… the real owners, not the ones registered on the business license. Vonn knew them well and, in a rarity for the ubiquitous Breen, trusted them. Still, they sat with a full view of the front door and kitchen, the only two places that anyone could enter the dining room.

And so it was not without some well-contained surprise that Vonn’s head turned when a hand fell lightly on their shoulder and a familiar voice said “Thanks for coming.” as a form walked from behind them and took a seat in front of them.
