Hannah looked at him, “Wait wait wait,” she wasn’t sure she’d caught all of that. “There was no crew? Care to elaborate a bit more, Cmdr?”

Tiberius stopped for a second and looked at Hannah, “Yes, there was no crew, it was simply a recording saying ‘Congratulations, you have successfully rescued the crew. Your timely arrival allowed all four to be retrieved before they lost breathable air. Your task now is to return to the Centurion for debrief with Captain McBride’. I was extremely disappointed and somewhat frustrated at the fact I believed there were lives at stake and there really was not anything there. I am ready to speak with McBride on this.” He rolled his eyes after finishing talking about it because he was very annoyed at the situation. He truly believed someone was in danger. He was happy he did not risk the life of lieutenant Asimina especially since there was not really any crew. It could have been very dangerous to go on the ship. He was glad it was him and not Hannah.

“Ah so the shake down patrol was really an elaborate training exercise.” Hannah nodded once and then moved to the back of the shuttle, making herself ‘busy’ stowing equipment. Cattaneo was obviously irritated. It was a good thing she never laughed in front of people (it made her self conscious because of her voice); however, her shoulders were shaking with barely contained amusement. She thought this was an amazing training exercise. Not that McBride needed her approval but she intended to tell him how effective she thought it was.

Tiberius looked over at Hannah and knew something was going on but he was more annoyed than anything so he was more worried about that than her. He sat back down at the console for the pilot and started the trip back to the Centurion. He was glad the mission went well but was annoyed at the outcome. After a number of minutes, they arrived back to the Centurion. He landed the shuttlecraft without any issues and was ready to get off the ship and debrief the captain. He looked over at Hannah as they were leaving and said, “Do you want to follow me and we will go back to the captain for our debriefing?” He pointed towards the door to walk with Hannah and waited to see how she responded.

There was an emergency medical team waiting in the shuttle bay. They looked confused. “Give me a moment, and I will join you.” She stepped over to the team and gave them quick orders. They nodded and collected their gear and left. “Alright, Cmdr. Shall we?” Asimina headed ouy of the bay and down the corridor for the bridge. These Avenger class ships were small. The door to the bridge opened and she stepped through after Cattaneo and towards McBride’s chair.

McBride leaned forward and watched them approach. “Glad you’re back safely,” he said simply as he rose from the chair. “Come, let’s debrief,” he said, moving to his ready room.

Inside the small room, Jonathan leaned against the desk. “Alright. Thoughts?”

Tiberius thought for a few moments before responding. He then said, “It was a true test. I did not expect it to just be a recording. But I am glad we were able to find a way to get to the runabout, in case something bad had actually happened.

Asimina grinned at McBride. She was standing at attention, but her eyes danced. “It was great. I haven’t had a training that thorough and detailed since I took my SAR Team Lead qualification. I don’t know about the rest of the departments, but the details for medical were excellent. Enough to work with and enough missing to keep us working.”

“Good,” Jonathan said with a grin. “Captain Dasca had the idea of giving everyone a chance to not only get to know each other but to test how you all worked together, or not, in a crisis. As you know, we don’t have a lot of time to get prepared before the Vren arrive. As much as I’d like to take credit for the drill, it was her idea to crash a shuttle and use a recording.”

“Any pinch points in the process? Or issues within the team to keep in mind going forward, communication or otherwise?” the captain asked, genuinely curious for their honest feedback.

Tiberius thought for a second and responded, “I believe the communicate between everyone on the away mission was good. Hannah was very helpful .” He was impressed with Hannah. He was curious what the other members of the away team might say about the communication.

Asimina smiled, “Thank you Cmdr. I thought we worked very well together.” She did give McBride’s question serious thought. “We had a chance to speak before we were sent out along with 10 hours to work out possibilities. So we went in with several plans, knowing we may have to change our approach completely. I’ve worked SAR for a long time, so unlike most medical officers, I know security has to do their thing before we can rush in. I have that patience and knowledge, someone else might not have. That experience and training has also given me knowledge and confidence a different junior officer might not have. Be afraid to speak up.”

“I think for those of us here, it went very well. I did find one thing problematic.” It was a personal thing, but it might be something others found difficult as well. Hannah was never afraid to speak up. “I found the time on the bridge chaotic and difficult to follow. I know there are times that it will happen like that, and it might be because of my implants. However, I feel like sitting down in the conference room to discuss and plan would have been more productive. There was so much going on on the bridge and people tossing out information and ideas and others focused on the data they were getting, that we may have missed some information or idea that may have made a big difference.”

McBride had listened very carefully to everything both of them were offering and nodded. To Hannah, he gave a deeper nod. “That’s good to know. We might not have a lot in the way of facilities, but we do have meeting space. Next time, we can make sure to pull planning away to a quieter space and make sure that those in the planning are also kept in the loop about any developments.”

“I for one though, am overall glad with how it went. More than anything I’m trying to get to know everyone and how they work best. So anytime we hit snags, please do come see me and let me know. Those small tweaks could make the difference in an actual emergency.”

He looked between them. “Any other comments before we turn around and head back to Oed?”

Tiberius looked over at McBride and thought for a second and responded, “I have nothing else to provide on this. I am glad what I thought is what happened. Sometimes I am not the greatest person of reading other people’s feeling how things went.” Tiberius waited to see if Hannah is going to say anything else. He was ready to head back to Oed V.

Hannah was quiet for a moment before speaking again. “If we had had patients to treat after the rescue, Cmdr Fayth and I might have additional feedback specific for our department or the triage of those patients between rescue and getting to sickbay. Overall I think everything there went well. Though Cmdr Fayth would have a better insight. She handled that side of the department while I handled the SAR details.”
