On that subject, I do tell everyone that I hire that I find repeated AWOLs unacceptable.

I find repeated AWOLs in my XOs even more so, since I expect them to take my place when I’m on a LOA. (The very reason why Rusty is now my 3rd XO this year.)

Unfortunately, while other Captain’s moan about how AWOLs are killing this club in Command, STF will not punish members for being repeatably AWOL. One suggestion was to hide AWOLs, since if they can’t be seen, they will no longer exist, or at least, they’ll not get noticed any longer!

I have never turned down a request for a LOA, though some advance warning would be nice too. It take no time at all to log a LOA, drop an email or to tag me in Discord to let us all know. I certainly do appreciate that REAL LIFE is often a drag and often gets in the way. Isn’t that why we all come here, into this fantasy world? So no, I don’t need to know your private personal details, medical histories or family histories, the financial status of your Dickensian employers, or the unreliability of your internet providers. I’m not asking for any of the reasons, which may be valid and quite understandable, or could be quite trivial instead. It is a simple courtesy that I’m asking for from everyone here. Just so that everyone else isn’t left hanging on your replies. Because doing that is rude and bad-mannered, and because it spoils the fun for others.
