Marsh's Quarters

She had shared some of parents interesting mix of cuisine with him on occasion and it was usually what she wanted when she was upset. Today was no exception but she wanted something she hadn’t had in awhile. “Boxty with roast beef and gravy. Trust me, it’s amazing. Good comfort food.”

Marsh grunted at a very low tone. He didn’t sound convinced. He was concerned about this Boxty element in his roast beef. He was pretty sure the French part of him would rebel against it.

Gazing at the data, Cass sighed and rose to her feet, giving Steven a grin as they moved to the turbolift. “You know, when I said I was seeing stuff in my dreams? It was like this weird pseudo reality of real data inserted into crazy scenarios. At this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if the TAM poofs into existence and communicates with our computer in some made up language.”

“That isn’t what you should be seeing in your dreams.” He wandered off towards the lounge why she headed to his room. Marsh’s quarters weren’t sealed so she could entered even without a code. In fact the only time he ever locked the door was when he was inside and didn’t want to be disturbed.

Cassidy snorted and gave him a lopsided smirk. “You’re telling me… give it a bit and I’m sure we can change that,” she said intently before going to his quarters.

Perhaps he wasn’t expecting company. His quarters weren’t as neat as she was used to. The remnants of their evening on the couch was still there, a couple of glasses a half empty bottle of wine a platter of cheese. Nor was his bed made.

Stepping in, Abrams took a moment to recycle the glass, bottle and cheese platter in the replicator and tidied the couch enough so they could sit down and relax. From the bedroom she grabbed a blanket and curled up on the couch. She was looking forward to the boxty was was amused at the skeptical look Steven had given her. What he didn’t realize was that the dish was nothing more than a mixture of grated raw potatoes and mashed potatoes made into a batter and fried in a griddle as a pancake. Add a really good roast beef and gravy and it was pure comfort food, just like the rugelach she had shared with him before when she first learned about her parents’ disappearance.

Something about being wrapped up in the blanket that smelled of both her and Steven and the peace and quiet of his quarters allowed Cassidy to relax a bit more. Almost being able to smell her mother cooking boxty in the kitchen of her childhood home, she began to doze off lost in a small happy memory.

There was the slight whoosh noise that came with the opening of the room’s door. His hands were full with a heavy tray that had more on it than two plates of food. A pitcher of a replicated bottle of red wine. In general people couldn’t replicate alcohol in their own quarters.

Steven was about to speak but as he noted her lying quietly… likely sleeping (on his bed) he smiled slightly and put the tray down on the table in the middle of the room. He paused and he started slowly, quietly stripping off his uniform. He had every intention just lying down beside her.
