The piercing cadence of the red alert klaxon echoed throughout the science laboratories as the overhead lighting shifted abruptly from its normal illumination to the pulsing crimson of emergency power. Around Specialist Stovik, conversations ceased instantly, replaced by the disciplined movements of Starfleet scientists securing delicate equipment and preserving active experiments before they could be damaged by whatever crisis had overtaken the Sentinel.

Stovik remained composed. Panic had never proven an effective analytical tool.

He moved to the central laboratory console, his fingers passing methodically across the controls as he initiated the standard emergency shutdown sequence for several xenobiological cultures that could not be left unattended during a power fluctuation. Containment fields confirmed stable. Cryogenic storage remained within operational tolerances. Laboratory environmental systems continued functioning despite the ship-wide emergency.

Acceptable.

The deck vibrated beneath his feet with a low, persistent resonance unlike the normal rhythm of a vessel at warp. His attention shifted immediately to the engineering telemetry available through the laboratory network. Much of the ship’s internal status data had become restricted or was updating intermittently, leaving only fragmented information available to personnel outside Engineering and the Bridge.

He made no attempt to draw conclusions from incomplete evidence.

Instead, he began compiling the environmental readings available to Science—subspace fluctuations within the laboratories, localized gravimetric stability, radiation levels, and internal sensor integrity—organizing the data into a concise report should the Chief Science Officer require immediate scientific support.

Finding no indication that the laboratories themselves were the source of the emergency, Stovik tapped his combadge.

The transmission complete, he returned his attention to the displays.

Prioritize any verified deviations in subspace geometry, gravimetric gradients, chroniton emissions, theta radiation, or localized sensor interference, regardless of magnitude. =^=

Until sufficient data existed to identify the nature of the cascade failure, speculation would be inefficient.
Observation, verification, and analysis remained the logical course of action.

The main corridor of Deck 9 was crowded and packed. Not only were half the science labs on this deck, but so was Sickbay. All the injuries were being brought down to deck 9 and the corridor was packed. The lights flickered red and alarms continued to go off. The main passageway connecting the different sections of the deck is lit in red emergency lighting, and there’s a faint vibration running through the deck. A horde of crew members are moving through, some heading to emergency stations, others helping injured colleagues.
