Admiral Vass paced back and forth in his office as he went over the details of the failed mission once more. He wiped a bead of sweat from his forehead and slumped down in his seat. “How could this happen…?” He muttered to himself as he anxiously scrolled through the roster of ships on the screen in front of him. He briefly paused on a couple but he knew this next mission would take a specialised set of skills. He smiled as a familiar name flashed on the screen before him. He tapped a few more buttons as Captain Carbine, his right hand man, entered with a fresh cup of coffee. Noticing the Admiral’s frown and worried complexion he placed the coffee on his desk as he asked, “problem sir?”

Vass sighed and nodded as he took a sip of the piping hot coffee, wincing as it scalded his tongue. “Indeed, although I think I may have found the solution. Get me Captain Colter on the Saracen, priority one,” he ordered as he sighed and leant back in his chair. Carbine nodded and took the last half cold cup of coffee away, returning to his office. He sat down at his desk and opened a comm channel.

=^= Star-fleet command to USS Saracen. I have Admiral Vass for Captain Colter, priority one. =^= his voice was professional yet firm. He hadn’t got this high up by playing nice.

Colter was in his ready room during this down time, going over new crew, requisitions, and such. The boring stuff that captains have to find the time to do.

The comm chime beeped and he was relieved for the break in paperwork. That is, until he saw who the call was from. He cursed under his breath, because he knew this wasn’t going to be your average run of the mill mission.

=^= Captain Colter here, Admiral. I’d like to say it’s pleasure to hear from you, but it rarely is,=^= the Saracen’s CO replied. His voice raspy and sounding like crushed gravel.
