Pawl felt the weight of the entity with be a keeper of history and knowledge. ~”You are not alone now.”~ Pawl said sincerely. ~”We can easily add your stories, knowledge, and the memories of your race and civilization. into our computers, and I will add them all to the archive based on Memory Alpha.~Pawl thought to the entity. We can send archeological teams to your home world to gather artifacts and other items you wish to be preserved for future generations.”~ Pawl finished his train of thought. “I count you as a friend.” Pawl added.[[Lt ]] [[Pawl Batario]]
[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]The shoreline remained tranquil as gentle waves lapped against the sand. For several moments after Pawl’s offer, the guardian simply regarded him. There was no immediate reply, only the quiet sensation of an ancient mind considering words that had not been spoken to it in countless ages. Then the beach shifted once more.
Rows upon rows of crystalline vaults stretched across an immense chamber within the derelict. Each contained intricate patterns of light suspended within transparent lattices. Some glowed brightly. Others had dimmed to little more than embers.
A feeling accompanied the vision. One of memory.
The guardian moved among the vaults, touching each with gentle reverence.
Every life remembered. Every discovery preserved. Every hope carried forward.
As Pawl spoke of Memory Alpha, archaeological teams, and preserving the civilization’s legacy, several of the dormant vaults flickered back to life, their light strengthening as if his promise itself had become part of their record.
The guardian turned toward him.
Not all memory belongs to one people.
A pause.
Memory shared… endures.
The chamber dissolved, returning once more to the quiet beach beneath an endless sky.
For the first time since their connection had begun, the guardian’s presence no longer carried the crushing weight of solitude. Instead, Pawl sensed gratitude so profound that words could scarcely contain it.
Then, gently, another image formed.
The glowing docking aperture beneath the derelict.
Its massive doors, sealed for ages, now shimmered with pale blue-white light. Internal pathways illuminated one after another, extending deeper into the sanctuary like a trail waiting to be followed. An invitation, not to conquer or claim but to witness.
Suddenly the intercom signalled:
“Bridge to Sickbay. This is the captain speaking. I seek an update on the status of Lt Batario.”
Kastarak, Cpt
Commanding OfficerOOC: You really should use =^= to signal comms:)
Dr. Sovan’s instruments registered another subtle change.
“The psionic resonance remains completely stable,” the Vulcan observed, comparing the latest telemetry against previous readings. “Stress hormones continue to decrease. There is no evidence of neurological fatigue or coercion.”
A new waveform appeared across the display. “The entity’s mnemonic emissions have broadened beyond Lieutenant Batario alone.”
He adjusted the sensor filters before looking toward Lieutenant Najjar.
“The vessel itself has begun emitting synchronized harmonic pulses. Internal power systems, previously dormant, are activating sequentially.”
On the tactical overlay, faint lights blossomed throughout the derelict’s interior, tracing corridors and chambers that had been dark for untold millennia.
“It would appear,” Sovan concluded, “that the guardian is no longer merely sharing its history.”
He regarded the display for a moment longer.
“It is preparing to receive visitors.” He glanced toward the CMO to see if she was going to answer the Captain’s comm.

Your Darkest Nightmare=/\=Najjar here, Sir. Lt Batario is stable at the moment. His medical condition has improved significantly even though he is still in communication with the entity. It also appears that the life form is turning on the lights for us. The derelict ship holds all the memories and knowledge of its people and it would seem we are invited to investigate. (OOC: I don’t know if she would actually KNOW about the memories and such because it is difficult to tell what Pawl is sharing with the medical staff)=/\=
Lieutenant Mykl Najjar
Chief Medical Officer USS ChernovOcc: (I would share all important information. I will try and be more accurate on writing on the posts.)
[[Lt ]] [[Pawl Batario]]
[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]OOC: Thank you :)
IC:
Walking back over to where Pawl reclined on the bio bed, Najjar scanned the readouts that posted the most recent levels for him. It all looked acceptable. Time to try something else. Placing her hand on his shoulder, Mykl leaned down a few inches and kept her voice soft so as not to startle him. “Lt…Lt can you hear me?”Lieutenant Mykl Najjar
Chief Medical Officer USS Chernov“I hear you, doctor.” As the voice came into his mind from a distance. “I am fine, just communicating with the entity” as he added what was going on. And he was able to see the away teams’ approach to the craft with the Entity’s help. He felt he was there with the team as they closed on the craft and docking.” Pawl added to his calm report. As Pawl still kept a connection with the entity, slowly came to consciousness.
[[Lt ]] [[Pawl Batario]]
[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]“Are you really alright? Is there anything we can do to help your situation?” She looked from Batario to Sovan, shrugging her shoulders at the Vulcan as if to say ‘I’m out of my element here’, and then back toward Pawl. “Is the entity you’re communing with, the same one that is leading the away team to the derelict?”
Lieutenant Mykl Najjar
Chief Medical Officer USS Chernov“Yes, I am ok, Doctor. ” Pawl said calmly. “And yes its the same entity. It is the last of his kind.” Pawl said with a soft tone. “The only thing I need is a glass of iced water to drink. ” Pawl said calmly, “As for the situation, all is ok now.”
[[Lt ]] [[Pawl Batario]]
[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]Dr. Sovan regarded Lieutenant Batario in silence for several moments, his expression as composed as ever while streams of neurological telemetry continued to scroll across the diagnostic displays.
The Vulcan adjusted the sensor resolution, comparing Pawl’s current cortical activity with recordings taken during the initial contact. The differences were immediately apparent.
“The synchronization remains stable,” he reported evenly. “Neural coherence has increased by 2.8 percent since my previous analysis. Cortical activity no longer exhibits the erratic spikes associated with involuntary psionic intrusion.”
Another panel appeared, displaying environmental readings from Sickbay alongside long-range telemetry from the bridge.
“The localized atmospheric anomalies have fully dissipated. Humidity, ionic concentration, and electromagnetic fluctuations have all returned to expected parameters.”
His fingers moved methodically across the console before bringing up the latest sensor feed from the derelict.
“The entity continues to emit the same harmonic signature observed since its emergence from the vessel. The frequency remains synchronized with the illuminated docking corridor now guiding the away team. There has been no indication of hostile intent, nor any measurable increase in offensive energy production.”
Sovan turned his attention back to Batario.
“Lieutenant, your request for water is consistent with mild physiological dehydration following prolonged neural exertion. That is unsurprising.”
He inclined his head slightly toward Dr. Najjar. “I recommend continued hydration, nutritional supplementation, and uninterrupted observation. At present there is no medical evidence to justify forcibly terminating the telepathic connection.”
His gaze settled once more upon the flowing neural patterns. “On the contrary,” he concluded with characteristic Vulcan restraint, “both participants appear to be benefiting from the exchange.”
As if punctuating his assessment, the monitors emitted a soft confirmation tone. Batario’s vital signs remained remarkably steady.
Far beyond Sickbay, the ancient entity continued its silent vigil, guiding the shuttle ever deeper into the heart of the derelict while the bridge’s telemetry and Pawl’s own neural resonance remained perfectly, almost impossibly… in harmony.

Your Darkest NightmareMykl was pleased that Batario was stable. As she went to get him the water he’d requested, she wondered what it would be like to commune with an alien species like he was doing. Her mind jumped to the derelict where the away team was investigating. It sounded exciting, but Sickbay was where she belonged. Returning to Pawl’s bedside, she handed him a chilled glass with iced water and a straw. “Can you manage this by yourself?” Once she’d passed the glass to him, she folded up a small table from the side of his bed. “You can set it here when you’re done. I’m going to get you a nutrition bar. It will give you instant energy and fuel your body to maintain the neural connection with the entity.”
Lieutenant Mykl Najjar
Chief Medical Officer USS ChernovThank you, doctor. I believe I will be ok.” Pawl said calmly to her. As he took a sip of water, it was really refreshing. “He drank about half of the glass of water before setting it down on the small table. Pawl was picking up a stray thought from time to time, just brushing his mind, then it faded. But it was familiar to him. He let the feeling go for now as he focused on the away team and his surroundings in sickbay, while communicating with the entity.
[[Lt ]] [[Pawl Batario]]
[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]Later, once it was more quiet in Sickbay, Kastarak walked softly into Sickbay. He walked up to Pawl, hesitant to tell him the news that he would have to relinquish command for medical reasons and depart for treatment very, very soon. He considered the feelings he had had – why they had broken up less than a year ago, the ethics guiding Kastarak in that decision, and the ethics of now departing. He could not expect that Pawl would want them to have any kind of relationship, let alone a romantic one, once Kastarak had departed, but he had nonetheless inside of him a hope.
However, he could not speak of that hope. Pawl was in a too delicate state. But he needed to tell Pawl that he was leaving. Pawl deserved as much.
Seeing Pawl, Kastarak felt a flutter in his belly.
“Hello Pawl,” he said softly. “I have something I need to speak to you about.”
Kastarak, Cpt
Commanding Officer“Hello, Captain.” Pawl dropped the formality. “Kasarak Whats on your mind?” Pawl said with a kind smile. Feeling that there was something not right at that moment. As he gave the captain most of his attention but still focusing on the away team’s progress and the entity.
[[Lt ]] [[Pawl Batario]]
[[Chief_Engineer]] [[Uss_Chernov]]Kasarak. The way Pawl always pronounced his name made Kastarak feel a flutter in his gut. Always. He would notice the absence of that flutter once he had left the ship. He did not wish to leave Pawl, but he had to go. The kind smile on Pawl’s face had always been calming, grounding, soothing, even to a Vulcan’s heart. Again, Kastarak would not see that. He’d leave.
“Pawl,” he said, his voice soft, almost whispering. “I regret that I must leave you and this ship. Tomorrow. I have been diagnosed with an early-onset neurodegerative illness, the Tuvan syndrome. Prognosis is acceptable, assuming treatment starts soon. It’s a difficult treatment, requiring full time on New Vulcan, where the facilities are.”
“You are the first one I tell. I hope we might remain in contact.”
Kastarak looked at Pawl, trying to interpret his reaction.
Najjar noticed the Captain’s arrival and his beeline for Batario. Checking the Lt’s scans once more, she made herself scarce so the two men could have a dialog without being over heard. She walked over to Sovan. “I’m going to grab a quick coffee and hang out in my office.” Here, she emphasized the ‘hang out’ so he would know she was trying to give the Captain some privacy. “Why don’t you take a break too? You’ve been standing at those consoles for a long time.”
Lieutenant Mykl Najjar
Chief Medical Officer USS ChernovSovan nodded as he tapped in commands on the console then picked up a datapad. “I have transferred the data and scans to this pad, I will head down to the galley and have a meal.” He said with a brief nod before making his way out of sickbay.
Doctor Sovan
“Good idea. I’ll have a bite of something with Pic.” Her trusted companion was still in her office, waiting for her to get off duty. He’d read, taken a nap, did a few calisthenics and went back to reading. Now he was composing a letter to his family back home when Mykl walked back into the office.
%You’ve been busy.% Pic signed to Najjar.
“Yes, there’s been somewhat of an emergency, but we’re in much better shape than we were two hours ago. The Captain is out there visiting one of the patients and I wanted to give them some privacy, so I’m taking a break to eat.”
He gave her the ‘sign’ for ‘good’, and she continued to the replicator. Iced tea and a tuna sandwich would hold her over until her shift was done. Pic opted for hot tea and bowl of pasta. As they shared a meal, the conversation flowed. Mykl had been reading his sign language for so many years that he could do it with just one hand and she still got the gist.
In some strange incident, he was telling her a story about when he was small and his mother wouldn’t let him go to the market (bazaar). He ran off and scared his entire family when they discovered him missing, but he had a wonderful time running in and out of the stalls and wares until one of the sellers caught him stealing a peach. The way Pic told the story, he had Mykl laughing loudly while she wondered why she hadn’t heard that particular story before.

Pawl was not sure what to say about the man leaving, even though he understood the reasons. “Of course we can still communicate; I would like that.”Pawl said with a neutral tone. Even though his heart felt the change of everything. “I won’t speak of this condition with anyone. I know you have a system for letting whoever he wanted to know. “Until we meet again It was an honor to serve with you Kasarak.” Pawl said with sincerity.
