Personal History: Born to Azizi and Hehet Najjar of the royal family, Mykl is fifth in the line of succession to the throne of Egypt. Being fifth and female, she has always known her rise would be extremely unlikely. That knowledge left her free to pursue an education, which she did, at the finest schools. Because of private tutors, she was able to finish all general requirements by the age of 15. Upon receiving certification, and with a GPA of 3.9, Mykl entered the university at John’s Hopkins School of Medicine, where she studied psychology and medicine. She received her Masters degree in Medicine and Batchelors in psychology, with a license to practice at the age of 23. Eighteen months at Starfleet Academy to teach her the basics of life in the military, protocol (which she had already been schooled in at home) and officer training courses, Mykl Najjar graduated from the academy when she was 25. Since then, she has made her life on star ships, treating the minds and bodies of the crew and the special problems that living in deep space can bring with it.

Personal History: Najjar is in good health, but suffers from the chronic condition Chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy (CIDP) which is a rare neurological disorder where there is inflammation of nerve roots and peripheral nerves and destruction of the fatty protective covering (myelin sheath) over the nerves. This affects how fast the nerve signals are transmitted and leads to loss of nerve fibers. This causes WEAKNESS, PARALYSIS AND/OR IMPAIRMENT IN MOTOR FUNCTION, especially of the arms and legs (limbs). Sensory disturbance may also be present. The motor and sensory impairments usually affect both sides of the body (symmetrical), and the degree of severity and the course of disease may vary from case to case. Some affected individuals may follow a slow steady pattern of symptoms while others may have symptoms that stabilize and then relapse.

She was diagnosed with the condition at the age of six, and was told it was an autoimmune disease. The left arm is most affected, but her other limbs might be symptomatic in the future. Because nothing can be healed forever, Mykl has been following the protocol set up for her by the royal physicians. To put up with the symptoms as long as possible, and when the arm becomes totally useless, have the nerves restored and start over. Because there are only so many times the nerves can be rejuvenated before they begin to permanently lose structure because of the CIDP, part of Mykl’s daily routine is to strap the affected limb into a passive stretching/stimulator machine that she keeps in her quarters.

Mykl travels with a companion. Because of her position in the royal family, her father Azizi has insisted that she be accompanied by Pic, a personal assistant.
