As time went on, Kastarak sat quietly, eerily still, in the captain’s seat, waiting for any kind of update. He might have looked patient to the outside, but inwardly, he knew his gut constantly signalled anxiety – fear even – about it. Each time, he noted the emotion’s communicative value and suppressed it, only for it to reappear, be supressed. On repeat.

The lack of updates were not necessarily concerning, but it was quieter than Kastarak had hoped. He understood now an important part of his own psychology, that of his need for control. These circumstances highlighted his lack of it. He was at the mercy of all that he could not control. That, surely, was a captain’s dilemma. As a physician, he had always felt more in control. In doubt, he’d make tests, try out hypotheses, and subject his patients to treatments. At times, treatments would fail, but at least then, he would have done everything conceivable in his power to save them. Now, he had power to do things, but there was no clear-cut route for him to walk. Anything he did risked a butterfly effect of sorts, and he had to be very careful about it all.

Suddenly, his mind wandered to Pawl’s. How was he doing? At least, in that respect, he could easily get an update.

He hailed Sickbay.

“Bridge to Sickbay. This is the captain speaking. I seek an update on the status of Lt Batario.”

And waited.

=/\=Najjar here, Sir. Lt Batario is stable at the moment. His medical condition has improved significantly even though he is still in communication with the entity. It also appears that the life form is turning on the lights for us. The derelict ship holds all the memories and knowledge of its people and it would seem we are invited to investigate. (OOC: I don’t know if she would actually KNOW about the memories and such because it is difficult to tell what Pawl is sharing with the medical staff)=/\=

The viewscreen shifted as the derelict answered the shuttle’s approach.

One by one, long-dormant conduits buried beneath centuries of darkened hull plating awakened. Pale blue-white luminescence spread through the immense structure like bioluminescence flowing beneath the surface of a tranquil sea. Rings surrounding the vessel ignited in sequence, each pulse matching the harmonic frequency that had been detected since the Chernov’s arrival.

The illumination was deliberate.

Rather than flooding the ancient vessel with light, distinct pathways emerged across its fractured superstructure. Arcs of shimmering energy traced a continuous route through twisted girders and collapsed framework, converging on a recessed ventral aperture that had remained almost invisible against the hull.

As the final sequence completed, the aperture itself brightened.

A soft beacon pulsed outward every few seconds, synchronized with the harmonic transmission already filling the shuttle’s sensors. The surrounding debris field remained motionless while the illuminated corridor appeared almost impossibly free of obstruction, as though the derelict itself was guiding its visitors safely home.

Just reposting to get this thread back on the board so it can be used with those left aboard on the bridge. Who do we have left on the ship? I wish we had a section on the MOTD for Away Teams. Can everyone chime off on who’s left on ship and who’s on the Away Teams again?
