Will ran his hand over the front nose of the shuttle, admiring the sharp lines that silhouetted its shape. He always thought the concept of a shuttlecraft was underrated. Yes, transporters could get you to A to B in instant moments, but they always had their moments when they misbehaved. And then there was the idea of sallying forward in something that was completely, well almost completely, defenceless, just like a loan messenger on a horse in times of old. In his mind, the shuttle was an instrument of diplomacy, getting to places were larger capital ships could not.

The doors leading to the shuttle bay opened, and a couple of the crew who were joining him on the mission walked in. Patting the shuttle one last time, he turned around to those who were mustering around him.

John smiled at him “well sir I will be the one flying this bird” he said i’m boarding the shuttle and starting pre-flight checks.

T’Sol had just came in from Sickbay from what she was doing with her scans. “Apologies for my tardiness, Commander. I was still in Sickbay, finishing my scans and everything else sir. I wasn’t aware that I was assigned to this mission sir.” She apologized and explained her reasoning of being tardy.
