Ensign John was certified to run the requalification training and test he even passed the test for some of the new weapons star fleet has given the green light for.

John was in one of the smaller cargo bays where he set up a halo targeting system and he had a table with the following

Type-2 phaser beam
Type-2 phaser Bolt
Phaser Rifle beam and bolt

Klingon disruptor pistol

Romulan plasma rifle

Andorian Disruptor rifle.

when everything was ready he went to the wall com and flipped the switch for a full ship broadcast

[O] attention when we are at space dock I will like the crew to come to cargo bay 2-B for phaser requalification’s. Please understand this if you don’t pass or you don’t do the test YOU WILL NOT BE CLEARED FOR ANY AWAY MISSIONS. Unless I sign off on you. Remember phaser requalifications MUST BE DONE BEFORE we leave space dock. That is all [O] when he was done he flipped the switch to shut down the com.

Chris came in with his coffee mug and placed it on a nearby table. “Ah. Ensign....Forster. That’s it. Ensign Forster how are you doing? I will be in your class today as I have two hours free as of now. Where would you like me to be while we wait for the rest of the class?” He smiled and waited for the response as he took a swig from his cup.

Ensign John was looking over some paperwork for the class. “Ah captain I’m gonna wait at least 30 minutes for more people to come in. There’s a table full of firearms I would like you to look over all of them and familiarize yourself with them if you have any questions, let me know” he said with a very professional voice and tone

Chris looked confused. “I understand about the waiting part but I do have a question about the second part. The part that you just told me to walk over to a table full of weapons and familiarize myself with them. Some of those I have never seen before let alone used and shouldn’t you be holding the class on teaching us on how to use them as well as to familiarize ourselves with them? I am not going to tell you how to run your class Ensign but I will tell you that I and everyone else that will walk through those doors WIL NOT touch a single one of those weapons without first being taught. I trust you understand me or is it that I misunderstood you good sir?” Chris stood looking at him but not in a mean way but in he really was just asking him a question.

Lovejoy had walked in herself. She had noticed that the captain was there and an Ensign she doesn’t know. “Captain. Ensign. How are you guys doing today. Yes captain I am more well controlled with everything now so you don’t need to worry.” Lovejoy said.

Chris was smiling as she came and was just about to ask her how she was doing and if she enjoyed her reprieve when she spoke up. Frowning and in a professional tone that lost all of its humor and mirth: “I am glad that you are doing better, and I would not have asked you any such personal questions in front of anyone. I also remember telling you and Mr. Batario not to read other beings minds without their permission. Are we clear on that?” He waited for her answer. “Good. Again, I am pleased to see you back and well. We all missed you around here.” He smiled once again and the light of his eye and smile were back.

“Yes captain I do completely understand all that. And to be honest I missed all of you as friends. Nothing more at this point. I have ran into an old classmate that kinda wished he was on board here. But he’s happy for me.” She replied to the captain.

Chris looked amazed. “Wow! Well maybe we could use an extra hand around here. But again I’m glad you had a good time.”. He was going to go on but the Ensign spoke up.

John was looking over his files “Lt. Lovejoy on your file it said you where on earth for Health reasons but it looks like your doing better and on your file it has been some time since you last qualified. Why is that if you don’t mind me asking.” He said with a calm voice. He then turned to the captain to give him an answer “And captain it is ok to look the weapons on the table over they are not loaded or charged they are just replicas I will take the real ones out later the replicas I am using is to get everyone familiar with them in a safe environment”

“No. Ensign. It is not safe to look at weapons that you are not familiar with, inert or not. Always treat a any firearm as if they’re loaded and how are these beings supposed to know if their loaded or not. I don’t want anyone flagging anyone else. Train how you play and play how you train. This crew needs muscle memory to use these weapons and I will not allow anyone to go up there until you have a class on each one. Is that understood?”.

OOC: I know we sent an email to each other about this. You’re good to go to continue the class good sir.

“I am sorry Ensign. But I do choose not to respond. It’s personal reasons why I am not to speak of it. All anyone and everyone needs to know is I left for health reasons and that is that.” She explained. “I am sorry if I sound like a complete idiot saying so but, it’s something that myself the counselor of the constellation and the Chernov. Also, the captain and the first officer. I will however will disclose that yes I am doing well and better then I was. But I will nicely decline to answer your question on why. Unless if the captain gives me a direct order to do so but I am however, not going too.” She said.

Chris nodded. “No Miss Lovejoy, you do not have to tell the reason and I will not order you to do so. That is your right under the HIPPA Law. But I think the Ensign was wondering why you haven’t qualified with a weapon in awhile, not actually asking why you were on medical leave. However. I think it best that maybe you come to the next class and leave this one. Give yourself some more alone time to get reacquainted with this ship and your surroundings.”. Chris looked back to Ensign Forester. “She is cleared to hold a firearm again, that I can say, but she will attend your class tomorrow with the rest of the crew that couldn’t make it today. Is that ok with you?”

John looked at the captain and said “ as long as it gets done before we leave space dock that is fine” he said with his clam voice. He then looked back to live joy and said “ Lt. just so you know I don’t know why you where on medical leave and don’t wanna know but there is a time and place for a decision with your captain on a private matters but now is not the time and cargo bay 2-B is not the place. Please be in the right mindset tomorrow” as he finished his voice was still clam.

Dawson came into the shuttle bay ready for the class. While he was no longer CWO, and had been transferred to communications, he felt he should keep up on his certification just the same. “Ensign Forster,” he said, “Reporting for weapons certification.”

As the young entered the bay John just got done putting the replica weapons into boxes. “Oh hello Lt. let me check some info with you” he said as he grabbed his pad. “ ok Lt. Q. Dawson you where once the CWO of this vessel. You been keeping up to date with re certification that is good so what do you like more the bolt shot or the beam shot”

“Beams,” Dawson said. He had never enjoyed the projectile type phasers. Just then the doors to the bay opened and another red shirt ran in.

Olesya ran into the bay and straight to Forster.

“Sorry I’m late. Dima was extra cuddly this morning. I love him, but he is such an orange cat sometimes.”

She looked around.

“Weapons recertification, huh? It’s good that you’re keeping up-to-date with those. We want to have as few areas of incompetency as possible. Where do you want me to start, Ensign?”

Dawson recognized her as the new CWO. He swallowed and put on a smile before walking over and extending his hand, “Good to see you Lieutenant. We haven’t met yet. I’m Lt. Q Dawson.”

John was not surprised from his answer not all officers like the newer bolt shot phasers but he had to train them in there use. “So what is the biggest mistake people make while using the bolt shot phasers” he asked both Lt’s to see if they know the answer.

Chris came up. “Glad to see you Mr. Dawson! I hate to be the bad guy here but we are ALL learning how to use ALL of the weapons and qualifying with them ALL! Besides there may not be a bolt type phaser around when you need it and I want us all to be ready and prepared since it seems we do a lot fighting. And the good Ensign Forester here will be teaching us! Can’t wait!”

Dawson was about to give an answer when Chris spoke up. “Understood sir. Just expressing a preference. I’m trained in both, but prefer the beams to bolt. I will say, ensign,” Dawson continued, “I’m not sure what the biggest mistake one would make with the bolt. I might guess not checking the setting?” He said, referencing the bolt phasers swivel design from the blue stun setting to the red kill setting. Beams seemed to have a more gradual adjustment setting that the user would configure themselves.

John looked at him “ even though the bolt phaser is a particle weapon. There is a kick to it. Most people try using it without understanding there is a kick to the weapon. It is the same with the rifle version unlike the old school, Maco rifles that fired a short particle beam there was no kick, but the bolt phasers to add a little bit more impact when it hits the target” he said showing a short video on the wall on how the bolt phasers work.

When the video was over he asked “any questions”

“That was an excellent video! Learned some new things and relearned others. I would say that not firing on a schedule can be a perishable skill. Anyone else learn or relearn something new?”

Pawl entered the cargo bay with his tool kit, planning on doing some work there, but he forgot there was a class being done there. “I am sorry, sirs. I forgot about the testing that was being done.” Pawl said sincerely to them. He knew he would have to deal with his own testing again, but his last testiing was not that long ago, and he was not going to argue semantics. Pawl, noticing the captain “sir!” snapping to attention so hard almost sprang something.

Adam had been on the ship for less than six hours and with the hectic schedule of on-boarding he had almost missed the weapons recertification. As a scientist, he would undoubtedly go on away missions as they discovered strange unexplored worlds. Adam looked towards the person in charge and said, “Ensign Nightroad reporting for weapons recertification.” as he tugged at his uniform.

The Ensign running the class looked at and said “relax Nightroad before you sprain something” he said with his calm, friendly voice “now take a seat” then he looked over at the engineer “ will be done in a few hours. You can come back then, but will I be seeing you tomorrow for your recertification?” He asked the young engineer.

“Aye Sir,” Adam replied. Adam knew how to use phasers but disliked the idea of having to use them. The reason he became a scientist was so he didn’t have to fight but if the situation dictated it, he would have to use one.

“Well, I can do it now or tomorrow?” Pawl calmly suggested to the officer that he answered his question quickly so as not to waste time. Sitting the toolbox down softly as he waited for a response.

“That is fine take a seat then” he took a pad and started the video for the new comers to watch “ok the rest of you to the red line on the floor” he said

Pawl moved over to the table and took a seat. “Thank you!” As he started to watch the video intently.

Dawson stepped up to the red line and awaited further instruction.

John then carried 2 boxes to the line the first box had 2 phasers one beam and the other the the bolt shot they both have been loaded with holographic rounds the other box carried 2 phasers Rifles one beam and the other was bolt shot. “Ok where going to start shooting at holographic targets you need to his 10 out of 20 targets to pass but I want to all to try for 15 when I was in the academy my score was 18 I wanna see you all do better……captain will you like to go first ?”

Pawl was focused on the video but he could easily tell who and all that was around him. After the video was over he waited calmly where he was till the ensign was ready for him or his turn.

As the young Ensign was having every one taking turns shooting with the help of one of the security teams keeping watch and helping keep this safe even though they were using halo rounds.

John saw the video was done he walked over to the group “So from the video what is the number one problem people have with the bolt shot phasers” he asked the group

Adam waited for his turn and did not mind others cutting in front of him. This allowed him to relax to get a better outcome of this event.

John saw pawl raise his hand wanting to answer “pawl you can give us the answer” he said like a game show host.

“The Bolt shot phasers were notorious for jamming up at the most inopportune times. Thank goodness the newer versions fixed some of the issues.” Pawl said calmly.

John Looked at him and said “no most people believe that the bolt shot phasers was like the EM-33 but this is a small kick so you do need to adjust your aim with the bolt shots unlike the beam phaser there will be no kick under stand. so the tablets in front of you you have a small test 20 questions multiple-choice you’ll be the first group to fill out the written part of the test then when you’re done with the test and the first group is done shooting, you guys will switch. You can begin your test now.” He said.

“Gentlemen,” said a voice from behind them, “I do hope none of you will have to report to Sickbay after whatever it is you’re up to.”

John look over at Dr. Samar “sir if you want to interrupt my class of star fleet officers using hologram rounds then Please be quiet and sit down and do the written part of your test or you will not pass, and if you do not pass, you will not be cleared for any away missions” he said clearly with a stern voice.

OOC: please don’t interrupt the class and because the captain is not here who would like to do their shooting first

IC: Chris gave Dr. Symar a stern frown and shook his head and then raised his hand. “Instructor. I am done with your test and if I have passed then I would like to be the one to fire first.

John walked over to the captain and graded the test “ wonderful captain. You passed with flying colors go ahead and approach the line and one of the security personnel will hand you your first phaser to use.” He said putting the pad on a table in the corner.

“Roger that sir.” The captain said as he walked over to the firing line and awaited instructions from the line officer.

Symar shot Taggart an apologetic look and took his seat, answering the written questions to the best of his ability.
