Harry gulped and shook his head, contemplating putting the lollipop back and picking another colour. “I uh…no, not really…not at all in fact…I just like the taste…” he trailed off as he felt beads of sweat forming on his forehead. “Shall I pick again?” he asked earnestly.

Ensign Goodwin (Sci)

Ana’s face remained carefully neutral before, at last, a small bit of amusement played at the corners of her lips. “I only allot one lollipop per patient,” she responded, dryly. Goodwin’s nervousness flooded her and she brushed the back of her hand across her forehead as though she could remove the annoying emotions from the outside. “How are you finding the Ogawa?” she quickly asked, reflexively reaching for the container of lollipops and slowly sorting them by color in front of her as she waited for his response.

Lt Darren, Psychiatrist

Harry thought for a moment. In truth, he found the Ogawa somewhat overwhelming. There were a lot more people than he had expected and half the time he just wanted to hide in his quarters. As he turned to Ana, he gave a somewhat feeble smile. “It’s good…” he said quietly, then mentally cursed himself when he remembered the counselor was part Betazoid. “…I mean, there’s a lot of people…it’s a bit…daunting?” he offered.

Ana went to eye Goodwin and quickly redirected her gaze back toward her sorted lollipop collection, recognizing that the intensity of her stare would probably not help Goodwin’s nervousness as they tried to fumble through this evaluation. “It’s a fairly small vessel,” she observed, simply, and then realized that this could be construed as critical of the ensign’s statement. She quickly followed up to cover her insensitive gaffe, “did you come straight from the Academy?”

Harry nodded quietly. “Yes ma’am…I thought a ship full of doctors and scientists might be a better fit for me given my…social anxiety?” he offered. “I thought I might be able to relate to people easier here,” he added.

Ana began nodding quickly in agreement before she caught herself. A small smile did make its way to one side of her firmly pressed lips. “I know what you mean,” she commented. Without giving him a chance to respond or comment on her agreement, she quickly continued to her next question. “Why did you decide to join Starfleet?”
