With the discovery that the sparkly goo was the cause of their extra issues and that it had exacerbated the damage the drill had caused, the ship slowly made it the rest of the way to Outpost 42, in orbit around Gamma Tiltium IV. Engineering had managed to get the hull breach to a state where they could be safe enough to make the rest of the trip, though it took awhile

Eventually, the rest of Decks 7, 8A and 9A were evacuated. The last of the straggling patients were brought into the Medical Centres, including the CSO and COS.

The Ogawa docked at the large and expanded Outpost with special precautions and was effectively quarantined until they were sure everything was under.

And that is where their weary captain made an announcement: they were all getting extended R&R (in shifts as needed) while the ship was purged of the last of the goo. And what good fortunate it was that Gamma Tiltium IV had an established resort!

• the area the resort was located in a humid subtropical region, along a coastline

• “The whole place - the location itself - was very reminiscent of Risa, with fantastically tall trees and lush tropical forest, but with a few plant species having heavy blue tinges to their greens.”

• The lodging apartments were set out in a few buildings.” Five stories tall, they were ‘terraced’ in a sense - every apartment faced east, to catch Gamma Tiltium IV’s afternoon and evening sunshine, and each floor was set back from the one below. No one had the upstairs neighbour’s balcony, overhanging their own balcony. It was a nice way of keeping a bit more of a community feeling - one can see everyone else’s balcony from one’s own - while still giving people the option of retreating into the dwelling itself for, er, privacy. The other three walls of the buildings were basically flat and mostly plain, and in the space ‘behind’ the lower-floor apartments and beneath the upper-floor ones, was plenty of space for utilities and facilities. There seemed to be a fair number of such buildings, set spaciously apart along a long stretch of coast. Another thing which McCormick liked, was that the apartments were themselves set back a short way from the actual beach; still close enough to be convenient, but with the added perk that everything else you might need or want, was right along your walk to or from the ocean.”

• the resort owners (an enterprising pair of Ferengi) had set up a special rate system with Starfleet for the use of its personnel. The Ogawa was arranging accommodations at the resort for those that wanted to spend time on the surface, but the crew was equally able to to spend R&R time on the Outpost itself, which had an extensive merchant deck.

OOC: You are all free to side sim on Gamma Tiltium or Outpost 42. I will probably start a couple open threads for people, but feel free to do your own thing. There’s lots people can do. Meanwhile, those sim threads that still need wrapping up are continuing as side threads, so the participants wis to, though I might move some of them along a bit farther.
