Maternal family history of wandering and meeting a partner to have a child with. It does not always work out for long-term relationships, though maternal grandparents have been an exception.

Parents split because his mother was devoted to her spiritual work and their lives were no longer compatible. He sees his mother infrequently but they have an affectionate relationship.

Much closer to father and paternal grandparents.

Worked in his grandfather’s shop where they sold household objects made by artisans, like his grandmother. He was happy doing this until his wanderlust caught up with him and he suddenly enlisted in Starfleet. He officially retired from active duty after a long drawn out burnout from combat, but loved the social spaces whre a Starfleet crew gathered and petitioned to work as a bartender, noting that it was advantageous to have a trained crew member to look after what often became a crew and civilian gathering point in an emergency.
