With Alexis’s obvious hurt tone and swearing in Mandarin, Kane knew something was wrong. He pulled the micro-PaDD from his pocket and saw her leaving the Guest Quarters where her parents were staying. “Oh, of course. Great.” and he stood up from the desk in his office and stomped out the door and to the turbolift.

A few scant moments later, he was standing in front of the door to Alexis’s parents quarters, hair over half his face and a glafre that threatened to melt the very door he was looking at. He reached for the chime, stopped himself, pulled out the micro-PaDD and tapped a few commands. The door slid open and Kane stepped into the room and said with an edge only Kane could manage “What the f^<k did you say to Lex? Why is she spiraling?” to whomever was in the room.

Allison was sitting on the couch, a PaDD in hand flipping through something with a wistful and pained expression on her face. When the door opened she assumed it was Anthony, but the force and sharpness with which the unfamiliar voice exploded into the room made the woman actually squeak. The PaDD dropped to the floor, her other hand came up and covered her mouth and then dropped over her heart as she stood and backed up against the arm of the couch. “Kane? What? Alexis?” She spluttered and then gave him a quizzical look as his questions solidified in her head. He sounded like he was accusing her of something. “What do you mean, what did I say to her? We were discussing your wedding, or I was attempting to.” Spiraling? Alexis didn’t spiral, she didn’t get emotional enough to spiral over anything. Not even an extremely difficult research experiment that didn’t go her way.
