Once he arrived in the labs he noted the Chief Science Officer wasn’t present. There was a lot of chatter amongst the various scientists standing around, but no real action. Lucky for me, I have some familiarity with herding cats.

“Alright everybody, the Chief could be here any moment, and I don’t think he’d like it if we’re all still standing around babbling. We need to get organized.” He glanced around the room. “This console controls the lab’s sensors? Good. Link up that auxiliary starion over there to display external sensors.”

With a simple mental command, his AR glasses linked to both consoles. Two holographic displays appeared in his vision… only visible to him. He positioned the image of the internal sensors where he could see them, and set the external sensors out of the way for a moment.

“We need to figure out what we’re dealing with… so set sensors to run a battery of sweeps-” Khiryn was interrupted by an Andorian NE.

“Uh… the anomaly is made up of an undefined synthetic energy lattice. It has elements of an acoustic rhythm… and might emanate photonic interference.”

Ensign Donivas paused for a few seconds, clearly caught off guard. “And how do we know that?” He asked.

The Andorian woman shrugged. “Notes of the initial analysis of the data packet. The one they sent us, and had us come out here in the first place.”

Ensign Donivas nodded slowly, absorbing the information. One of the first things he’d learned about the ARU is that they like to contain and compartmentalize everything. “I see. And, does my clearance level grant me access to this information?”

The NE shrugged again. “As an active member of the research team? Yes.”

Khiryn sighed. Well thank the stars for that. “Good. Send the notes and datapacket to my PADD please… and set up the sensors per that initial information.”

He called up a third holographic image on his glasses… this one of the data packet and initial research. Instead of reviewing it, he gave his fellow scientists a rundown of what happened in CIC a short time ago.

“Since I’ve already been effected by the anomaly, I’m going to try to make another change. I want you to monitor me on sensors while Engineering monitors the anomaly itself.”

After giving the scientists a few minutes to prepare, the Andorian NE spoke again. “All lab sensors and recording equipment is online. Trial Loom P-001 initiated.” Khiryn resisted the urge to shake his head. The ARU loves their codenames too…

Ensign Donivas did his best to ignore the fact that he was the test subject for this trial, and focused on the image of a lab coat that one of his medical professors always wore.

It was long, white, and bordered on being called a trench coat. I always thought that coat was awesome… if a little ostentatious.

OOC: Sorry for the near simultaneous posting. I wrote it as one post before I realized it should be split.

Ensign Khiryn Donivas - Science Officer - U.S.S. Leviathan

OOC: No problem, I’ll get to reply soon, just be careful not to get too far ahead of the story, don’t write assumptions into the story, please only use information that has been produced by previous research. Or ask, but don’t just make things up.. ;)

Captain Elora Myles
Commanding Officer U.S.S Leviathan

OOC: Thanks! I know Main Sims must wait for and build on GM-provided knowledge. (no going rogue). Please don’t hesitate to poke me if I’m overstepping; I am still relatively new.

And no worries about timing. I understand if this sits for a bit while the Away team gets organized and sets out.

Ensign Khiryn Donivas - Science Officer - U.S.S. Leviathan

OOC: Apologies for the absence. Dealing with some things that kept me far too occupied.

IC: It wasn’t long (but far too long for comfort) that the lab doors opened and the CSO walked in. While not large for his species, he was still larger than the other scientists present; and his demeanor (so far) was not one most people enjoyed being subjected to. Ahearn looked around the lab and saw everyone working towards identifying and cataloguing the anomaly, and he grunted a soft approval. He looked at Donivas and nodded slightly in unconscious approval. “Ok, Donivas. What do you have so far?”

Ahearn, Chief Science Officer

Ensign Donivas looked up as Lt Ahearn entered the science labs. Based the Ensign’s experiences, there was always the chance that a senior scientist would be upset at things happening without them. The little bit of a read Khiryn had on the massive Orion indicated that was unlikely, but there were no guarantees in the galaxy.

Still… he let out a breath he didn’t realize he’d been holding when the Chief of Security took stock of the situation in the lab and immediately shifted into work mode.

“Not much Sir, we just completed our preparations. We have a console set up to coordinate with Engineering as they monitor the exterior sensors. The good NE over there…” He nodded his head toward the Andorian woman. “…is handling control and cataloguing since she’s more familiar with your protocols than I am. I was going to have a reporting channel set up for crew to report any incidents they might have, but I thought that might be a distraction.”

After his transit from CIC to the Science labs, Ensign Donivas was honestly surprised there didn’t appear to be as many incidents within the lab. Clothing looked like it was piling up in some areas out there. He thought that might be due to the scientists being focused on a problem and not letting their thoughts wander… but that was not something he thought he could mention without the likely possibility of negative consequences. And this could just be a statistical anomaly that will correct itself shortly.

“If a… costume… did not manifest on you recently,” He did not want to put the idea of Lt Ahearn in a pink bunny costume in anybody’s heads. “…that might indicate the anomaly reacts to thoughts with personal changes only, and not on other people. Or it could have been a distance consideration.” If pressed Khiryn was totally going to throw Lt Gadi under the proverbial bus for putting that idea in his head.

He shifted gears again. “I don’t know the skillsets of the team yet, but it might be valuable to bring the Chief Medical Officer to consult. If there is a telepathic component to this, we should cover all of our bases.” He’d put a pin in that line of thought until Lt Ahearn arrived. It wasn’t urgent, and if it was necessary the request would be better handled Department Head to Department head.

Ensign Donivas moved forward to the current status. “Since the anomaly already affected me while I was working the sensors in CIC, I was about to serve as the specimen for our first controlled trial, and try manifesting clothing on myself.”

He waited to see if the Chief Science Officer had any changes or if he wanted to proceed with the experiment with the current parameters.

=/\=Gadi to Ahearn. The captain asked me to relay a request for a way to get the anomaly out of our heads before we are, I quote, ‘neck deep in clothes.’ Gadi out.=/\=
