Once he arrived in the labs he noted the Chief Science Officer wasn’t present. There was a lot of chatter amongst the various scientists standing around, but no real action. Lucky for me, I have some familiarity with herding cats.

“Alright everybody, the Chief could be here any moment, and I don’t think he’d like it if we’re all still standing around babbling. We need to get organized.” He glanced around the room. “This console controls the lab’s sensors? Good. Link up that auxiliary starion over there to display external sensors.”

With a simple mental command, his AR glasses linked to both consoles. Two holographic displays appeared in his vision… only visible to him. He positioned the image of the internal sensors where he could see them, and set the external sensors out of the way for a moment.

“We need to figure out what we’re dealing with… so set sensors to run a battery of sweeps-” Khiryn was interrupted by an Andorian NE.

“Uh… the anomaly is made up of an undefined synthetic energy lattice. It has elements of an acoustic rhythm… and might emanate photonic interference.”

Ensign Donivas paused for a few seconds, clearly caught off guard. “And how do we know that?” He asked.

The Andorian woman shrugged. “Notes of the initial analysis of the data packet. The one they sent us, and had us come out here in the first place.”

Ensign Donivas nodded slowly, absorbing the information. One of the first things he’d learned about the ARU is that they like to contain and compartmentalize everything. “I see. And, does my clearance level grant me access to this information?”

The NE shrugged again. “As an active member of the research team? Yes.”

Khiryn sighed. Well thank the stars for that. “Good. Send the notes and datapacket to my PADD please… and set up the sensors per that initial information.”

He called up a third holographic image on his glasses… this one of the data packet and initial research. Instead of reviewing it, he gave his fellow scientists a rundown of what happened in CIC a short time ago.

“Since I’ve already been effected by the anomaly, I’m going to try to make another change. I want you to monitor me on sensors while Engineering monitors the anomaly itself.”

After giving the scientists a few minutes to prepare, the Andorian NE spoke again. “All lab sensors and recording equipment is online. Trial Loom P-001 initiated.” Khiryn resisted the urge to shake his head. The ARU loves their codenames too…

Ensign Donivas did his best to ignore the fact that he was the test subject for this trial, and focused on the image of a lab coat that one of his medical professors always wore.

It was long, white, and bordered on being called a trench coat. I always thought that coat was awesome… if a little ostentatious.
