The USS Leviathan dropped from warp at the outer edge of the Pindarus system, starlines snapping back into pinpoints as the planet resolved on the main viewer.

“Helm, bring us to standard orbit,” Captain Elora Myles ordered calmly from the center seat. The bridge lighting reflected softly off the emerald world below—Pindarus IV turning slowly, deceptively peaceful.

For a moment—just a moment—her focus drifted.

Pindarus IV rotated with the same slow inevitability as a Parises Squares arena before kickoff. She hadn’t set foot on a court since her days captaining the Nova Strikers, but she still remembered the hum of the grav-field, the anticipation before the first serve, the weight of expectation riding on her shoulders.

She could almost smell the ionized air. Hear the crowd. And then, a faint shimmer crawled across her uniform collar.

The gold piping along her command jacket flickered, deepening into a bold electric teal. The Starfleet delta dissolved into the stylized comet insignia of the Nova Strikers. The structured lines of her captain’s tunic softened and re-formed into the sleek, aerodynamic cut of a professional Parises Squares uniform,form-fitted, marked with the number seven, a number she hadn’t worn in years.

She lowered her gaze briefly to the altered uniform, then back to the planet. Her gaze blank, =^=”Senior Staff to the bridge”=^=

Lieutenant Commander Hall Angel had gotten the ping from the captain. =/\= On my way captain.=/\=. He said over his com. He then went to the turbolift from the deck he’s on. “Bridge.” He said to the computer and it acknowledged. The lift doors had shut and the turbolft had taken off. The turbolift had than took a halt at the bridge and the doors slid wide open. He then walked onto the bridge and took his station.

Bethany had felt the ship drop out of warp and had been making her way to the CIC already. =/\=Acknowledged.=/\= was all she replied. Stepping into the CIC she didn’t pause, but her eyes widened to see the captain in a sports uniform. That seemed odd…, but she didn’t say anything, yet. She took up her position at the tactical station, checking the readouts there.

Lt. Gadi, COS/RTF

Amazingly… astonishingly… after everything Ensign Donivas had learned about the ARU in his brief time onboard, he was NOT up in the Containment Deck studying one or more of the anomalies.

No… he was in CIC working on his sensor qualifications.

It made sense in a practical sort of way. Once of his most glaring weaknesses was his lack of shipboard experience. While he’d used countless specialized scanners and high end diagnostic systems during his brief career, the Leviathan’s sensors were a different beast. It would be easy to perform navigational scans or tactical sweeps… but to get detailed information from some sort of novel stellar event or bizarre geophysical formation… that required finesse and an intuitive understanding of the sensor suite.

Right now, Khiryn was far from finessed. Although he had managed to graduate to the point that the duty Helm, Tactical, and Operations watch standers were no longer casting dirty looks over at his auxiliary console on the outer edge of CIC.

His thoughts returned to the Containment Deck. It galled to be so close to such magnificent scientific specimens and be unable to study them. Khiryn had to remind himself of his long term goals. He considered himself an exceptional Scientist, but as a Science Officer he could admit that his skillset left much to be desired. This is where I need to be and what I need to do to continue my career.

Ensign Donivas kept that thought in mind as the ship dropped out of Warp and closed in in toward a planetary orbit. He didn’t initiate a scan… now that they had arrived, control shifted back to more experienced officers. But he did begin reviewing all the information being provided by the Leviathan’s passive sensors. Parsing sensor data was something he was quite adept at.

With his focus elsewhere, Khiryn barely noted the senior staff as they started arriving to meet with the Captain.

And with a dull shimmer of light the pips of the Chief Science officer appeared on Ensign Doniva’s collar

Khryn looked around as he noted a faint glimmer of light on his console. He didn’t see anything, but the Engineering NE on the aux console next to him raised his eyebrows and pointed at Ensign Donivas’s neck. “Uh… you have full Lieutenant pips on. They just sort of appeared.”

Khiryn’s first reaction was disbelief, but his hand automatically reached up to his neck and feel for the pips and verify.

OOC: Checking to see if I can feel them, or if it is a visual change only.

The pips are indeed real he could feel them as if he had placed them himself.

Hall Angel finally arrived on the bridge and had noticed that the captain wasn’t in her starfleet attire. “Captain?” He started. “Everything okay? Your not in your regular starfleet attire.” He finally spoke up.

Elora looked at him, down at her old uniform, and then back at him. “Not like I or anyone one the bridge could miss it, it just appeared on my” she noted looking around the rest of the crew. Work with Gadi, to get a team preped and ready to get whatever this thing is, ” she noted “Science and Engineering figure out why my old uniform appeared on me” he she said.,

Bethany caught the shimmer and her eyes narrowed. Interesting… she began an internal scan of the CIC adding, for good measure, the algorithm she used to isolate the disturbance from the video.

Lt. Gadi, COS/RTF

Khiryn saw the Chief of Security glance in his direction and then start a scan. Still a little confused, he started walking over to Gadi. That’s when he finally noted the Captain’s odd attire. Did that… appear… as well? he wondered.

All of Ensign Donivas’s experience was failing him at the moment. He was currently both scientist and specimen. This was not a carefully controlled study with control groups or blinds to protect the integrity of the results. This was happening in real time.

He was appalled… but also a little intrigued by the novelty of it.

As he reached the COS, he stood to her side and outside the growing circle if senior staff. He spoke in a tone loud enough for her to hear, but hopefully not detract from whatever meeting the Captain was about to hold. “I think it… the anamoly… may have reacted to my emotions. Or maybe just my thoughts. I was thinking of of the importance of making rank to continue my career… and then noted the faint shimmer.” He gestured to his collar device.

“While I am appreciative of the thought, strange anomalies laying on a planets surface handing out pips is no basis for a system of promotion.”

Gadi looked over at the En with a very Vulcan like single raised brow. “Really? Interesting.” If the Ensign was correct, then she could think about something and it would appear? Could she consciously make the anomaly react? She focused on a costume her mother had made her when she was a child, when they first arrived on Earth for a ‘Halloween’ party. She went as a rabbit. Pink nose, tan fluffy tail, and long floppy ears. It was a good memory.

Her rabbit costume materialized on her, full white rabit mascot now sat where the COS was, It lasted a few moments then she was standing in a blue, surplice blouse, it was very flattering. The white rabbit suit now pooled at her feet.

But in the back of her mind, the memory of the end of those happy times surfaced along with the last time she ever saw her father…

Khiryn paused and did his best not to react to the site of the Chief of Security in a pink bunny outfit.

He failed.

Ensign Donivas placed a hand over his mouth to mask his smile. He did his best approximation of a contemplative pose with hand in a loose fist and the knuckle of his index finger resting against his upper lip. Lt Gadi did not have the look over an overly tough and ultra serious security officer, but it was still odd to see on any of the senior staff.

Gadi turned only her head and raised a brow at the Ensign her eyes dancing. The bunny suit was amusing.

That made the image of Lt Ahearn in a pink bunny suit pop into Khiryn’s head. He fought to keep a chuckle from escaping his lips, and then focused on that image for a few moments to test a theory.

When her clothing changed again the amusement fled as Ensign Donivas started to wonder about the mechanisms behind the anomaly. “So far it seems to react to thoughts of multiple individuals, each from different species. I’m guessing that the change stays static even when the individual stops thinking about it. The exception being Lt Gadi… but I’d wager that is the result of two separate and distinct thoughts.”

A new line of thought occurred to the newly reported Ensign. “This could be happening to crew all throughout the ship. While a larger sample size of affected individuals would help us gather data faster… it might also be advisable to move the Leviathan further away from the anomaly to identify its effective range… and ensure everyone’s safety.”

He said that to the group as a whole… but was afraid to push. He knew how Starfleet academics conducted business… but he was always told that Starfleet Officers on ships held to military discipline a little better. Well, technically the senior staff meeting hasn’t started yet because everybody isn’t here yet… but I’ll be sure to back out of this impromptu huddle before it starts.

She knew this shirt and the memories it invoked stole her confidence and her composure for a brief moment she was back in the hospital, in that horrible itchy exam gown, her arm heavily bandaged.

The captain’s tone and feelings caught her. Irritated at her change in uniform. Gadi didn’t mean to catch the Captain thinking about wanting to be back in her uniform, but she heard it anyway.
