“BeeeeeeeWoooop” went the chime, therapy was something she rather enjoyed it was the one place she did not have to have all the answers, it was freeing in a way. She tightened here tunic with a crisp tug, who ever had designed the uniforms should be hung, they were always drifting upward.

Laural took a slow breath after hearing her office door chime. It wasn’t that she dreaded this meeting or that she felt unprepared. She loved meeting new people and hearing their experiences and she felt privileged to support people emotionally. No, Laural had nothing against the person on the other side of the door.

What she readily acknowledged, however, was the revolving door that had become the Levi’s command staff. The constant and sudden leadership changes were jarring for herself and the crew, and while Starfleet personnel were taught to adapt and overcome, there was only so far such resilience could take them. She also recognized it couldn’t be easy for Myles either, and while deep down, Wit wasn’t going to get her hopes up that this would be the time command would allow them some stability.

“Come in,” Laural called out, the doors automatically opening at the sound of her voice. She smiled when she saw Myles. “Hello, please, come in,”

Elora tugged her uniform, it always felt tight and seemed to ride up. “Thank you doctor,” she said as she walked in. “Elora Myles” she said holding her hand forward. She was a fit woman, her file would show a strict exercise regiment that would rival any professional athlete.

Age of Evaluation: 38
Rank at Time: Commander
Conducted By: Rear Admiral Dren Taval, Echo-Zeta Oversight, Starfleet Intelligence

Evaluation Summary:

Commander Myles exhibits remarkable mental compartmentalization without evidence of dissociative tendencies — a trait believed to stem from her unique neurocondition (NPVI).

Emotional stability is high, with noted restraint under high-pressure scenarios. She scores above the 95th percentile in tactical foresight, situational awareness, and leadership adaptability.

While NPVI once caused concern due to its unpredictability in developmental years, her case has since evolved into an asset. Neuropsych profiles reveal she processes situational threads in layered succession — making her “hard to surprise” in operational contexts.

Myles demonstrates deep protective loyalty to team members, coupled with healthy distrust of political manipulation. However, she has historically chosen ethical clarity over personal career gain — a sign of internal moral consistency.

She shows no indicators of trauma-related behavioral flags, though historical data suggests a long-standing internalization of early athletic controversy. This does not affect performance, but does appear to inform her ethical rigidity.

No signs of psionic susceptibility; standard telepathic scans show robust internal shielding and healthy cognitive rhythms.

Recommended for continued command-track roles within ARU or other high-autonomy tactical units. Cleared for Echo-Zeta operational theaters.

“Laural Witley,” the counselor replied. Laural took the offered hand and shook it firmly, something she knew took people by surprise sometimes because they weren’t expecting it from someone in a gravchair. Wit didn’t expect Myles was one of those people, however, as what little she knew of the CO from reading her file was that she didn’t appear to be what she seemed either.

Laural was struck by the practically glowing psych eval she’d read before Myles’ arrival to her office. There wasn’t one mention of anything remotely approaching a personal challenge in the eval’s summary. Even the Captain’s NPVI was ultimately deemed a strength by the evaluator. Wit wondered what to make of this. No sentient being was perfect, so that either meant Elora Myles was very good at masking anything that could be deemed even a slight flaw, or the evaluator wasn’t inclined to see or write anything that could be perceived as negative.

Wit hypothesized it was the former, although she would withold judgment until she had formed her own assessment. It occurred to her it was also possible Elora herself could be more self-aware of her imperfections and perhaps the evaluator was biased. Whatever the reason, Laural didn’t think a multitude of strengths was a bad thing, just that they weren’t the entire picture. She looked forward to getting her own picture of the person before her.

Laural released Myles’ hand and gestured for her to make herself comfortable. “It’s a pleasure to meet you. Feel free to make yourself comfortable. May I get you something from the replicator?”

~Dr. Laural Witley, Chief Counselor

Elora looked at the woman and gave a small nod, she looked at the replicator sideways. “No thank you Im fine” she said sitting down in the chair. “I’m going to need to time alot I’m afraid, as CO I really can’t confide in anyone else” it was clear that Elora wanted to get to the point and get on with it. She was not one to mess around, and it was clear from what she had seen of her file that it was heavily redacted or omitted for security reasons. You can’t have PTSD from something that did not happen after all.

That certainly wasn’t the response Laural was expecting, but Wit appreciated the candor. “That’s not a problem, Captain. Offering an ear to people in need of support is what I’m here for, especially for people who may feel they have few they can turn to. How can I help?”

~Dr. Laural Witley, Chief Counselor
Elora smiled, “Im just here for my evaluation Doctor, but i may need to confide in you from time to time” it was more than that, a shaken captain was a broken ship.or so her father had always said.

Laural nodded. “My counsel is always available to you. I hope you will reach out to me as often as you need, and I will do the same. My intention is never to wait for command officers to seek me out, but to build a collaborative relationship when I see ways to support you and offer a perspective that you perhaps hadn’t considered. I’m hopeful this evaluation can feel less about feeling graded and more about getting to know each other.”

~Dr. Laural Witley, Chief Counselor

Elora smiled. “I would like that, ” she said looking around her office. “I don’t have anything specific to talk about though, so do you have some questions for me ?” he asked folding one leg over the other and resting her arms on the arm rest trying to relax and enjoy a new friend.
