Ensign S.A. McIntyre approached the XO’s ready room, datapad in hand, uniform crisp. He paused at the threshold, then entered with a controlled, professional stride.
“Lieutenant Commander Grady,” he began, coming to attention.
“Ensign Samuel A. McIntyre, reporting in with the current security status, sir.” He tapped the datapad lightly.
“CIC watch rotations are fully staffed and operating at standard readiness. Tactical and sensor logs show no anomalies since the previous report. Patrols on Decks 3 through 7 are completed, with minor environmental breaches on Deck 5 corrected and logged. All phaser lockers and access points have been inventoried and secured, and departmental personnel are current on their duty certifications and drills.
“Additionally, preliminary scans indicate no unauthorized presence aboard or in adjacent sectors. I will continue monitoring for potential threats and provide updates at your direction. All incidents and routine checks are logged in the departmental security records for review.”
McIntyre maintained a steady stance, hands at his sides, waiting for acknowledgment while keeping his tone professional and concise.

Finn glanced up from what he was doing to acknowledge the other officer, taking in the imposing form and listening attentively as he gave report.

“At ease, Ensign,” he said with a smile. “I appreciate the attention to detail in those reports. I’m sure Lt Reid is excited to have you on board. Having a good staff sure makes life run a whole lot smoother.”

As he regarded Ensign McIntyre a thought seemed to pop into his mind, “Actually, Ensign, if you have a minute why don’t you take a seat? Might as well take some time to get acquainted. I’m used to a much smaller crew on my past ship.”

He gestured to one of the chairs in front of his desk.
