Matty made her way to the counseling offices for her boarding evaluation. She stopped at the door and rang the chime

CTO

The woman at the nearby desk smiled, “Lt O’Farrell will be back in just a moment. If she didn’t get lost. Ran to use the facilities. NE Tanaka, or you can call me Anne. Would you like…oh there she is. Hey Lt you didn’t get lost this time!”

A woman with curly bright red hair, green eyes, and classic pale skin marked her as having strong Irish Terran heritage. A very strong Irish accent flowed from her, “Stuff it, Anne,” which made them both chuckle. She walked over toward the Lt Cmdr standing in front of her door and offered her hand. “Lt Cmdr Sullivan? It’s nice te meet ye. I’m Lt O’Farrell. Come on in.” She pressed the control on the office door and stepped inside.

Immediately to the left of the door was a desk. A variety of places to sit and low tables dotted the rest of the open area. The right wall was taken up with a wall to wall, floor to ceiling storage until. Books, various pieces of art, and nick knacks covered the shelves. “Help yerself te the replicator and have a seat.” O’Farrell grabbed a glass of tea off her desk and had a seat in one of the chairs.

O’Farrell

“I’m good.” Matty said as she took a seat “Still getting used to the ship, eh?” She asked jokingly. She wore the tradition Bajoran earring and seemed perfectly at ease.

CTO

Cara laughed, “I’ll never get used tae de ship. It’s like a bad joke. I ‘ave no internal compass to speak of. It’s so bad de security chief gave me my own escort.” She was joking…maybe.

“So where are you joining us from, Cmdr?”

O’Farrell

Mattie nodded “Take a padd with you and a diagram of the ship; that way you don’t get lost and you don’t have to have security heckling you.” She said

Mattie smiled “Most recently the Academy where I was teaching engineering classes and taking tactical classes for this position.” She said “Prior to that I was on the USS Europa as her Chief Engineer.” Mattie offered.

CTO

“Did ya choose tae teach or was it a means tae keep busy while ya got yer tactical classes?” The question was simply inquisitive. Cara had been stationed at command before she came here. And although she didn’t teach regularly she had been assigned to cover classes from time to time. It wasn’t her goal to teach, but she had enjoyed the experience immensely. The uniqueness of the ship struck her again. A CTO who transferred to engineering as the CE and now a CE who retrained to become the Atlantis CTO. The ship could be a long term study in crew dynamics.
