Chris arrived at the XO’s office, straightened his Uniform and rang the chime, reporting to the XO wouldn’t normally have to report to the First officer , but as there was no counselor onboard that he could discern anyway, he thought the XO might be a good stand in

Enjoying a moment of quiet contemplation, Nyx jumped when the chime sounded. Giving herself a sound shake, she smoothed her uniform top as she stood. “Come.” The doors parted to reveal an Ensign awaiting entrance.

“Hello Commander, i’m Ensign Chris Taylor, i just transferred onto the ship , as i can’t go through my psych eval due to their not being a counselor onboard, i thought i would come and report to you.........i hope that was ok , last thing i want to do is upset the XO on my first day”

“Come in, Ensign.” Qyra looked over the new officer and wondered if she had ever been as ‘green’ as he was. With an internal sigh, she realized she had, it just happened when she was younger than him. “Yes, we are currently without a counselor, but the Captain and I are hoping to solve that problem shortly. Please have a seat.” She motioned to the chair opposite her desk.

She sat also, and pulled up his file on her monitor. After a quick scan, she turned her blue-green gaze on him. “I see this is your first posting out of the Academy. Life on a ship is quite different than living on a station or planet. How do you think you’ll fare?”

Chris took the seat the Commander offered

“Well there was the time i spent on the Challenger, i know it’s not the same thing”

He paused for a couple of seconds then continued

“I’m sure i’ll be fine, just takes a bit of getting used to i guess”

That brought a small lift to the right side of Nix’s mouth. It was the beginnings of a smile, but one that wouldn’t be realized fully. She’d seen what happened when someone couldn’t accept what living in space required. It wasn’t pretty, and resulted in them being red flagged to planet life. “I hope you’re right. As I’m new to the ship, I’m not sure how much I can tell you about her if you have questions, but I have read up on her, so I have all the facts. Your record looks fine. Have you had a chance to meet your DH yet?”

Chris decided not to be nosey about this other crew member, it wasn’t his place to know things he wasn’t present for

“No it’s ok , it’s not my place to know private things about other people, As for DH, I just came from meeting Lt Gainn”

She nodded. “I’m curious as to your take on our Chief of Security?” Normally, one would wait until Taylor had a chance to work with him for at least a couple of weeks, but first impressions also had their place.
