Just as quickly as he has disappeared on the Memorial, Nightroad appeared in an empty room. The walls curved in a perfect circle, about 5 metres wide, with no sign of any doorway.

The only object in the room was a round drum, which responded to the Captain’s presence by shimmering, and starting to change shape. It was almost as if it was made from grains of sand, that started to pulsate across the whole mass. Seconds later, he was standing in front of a what seemed to be a poor imitation of the human form.

Cain was confused for a moment but that passed. As he looked at what might be called a human form, Cain said sternly, “My name is Captain Cain Travers Nightroad of the USS Memorial, a United Federation of Planets starship on a peaceful mission to explore strange new worlds; to seek out new life and new civilizations; to boldly go when no one has gone before.”

Cain stood firmly after saying all that and waited for what might come next from the hosts that brought him to where he was.
