Valeria straightened her jacket for the sixth time and rang the chime to the CO’s ready room. Oh how she was looking forward to meeting him. Well, strictly speaking she was looking forward to having him in sickbay… she imagined it now… * Captain, would you mind if I cut you up to examine you? I will stitch you back together very neatly, swear! * she chuckled to herself at the unthinkable scenario. She had always had a great imagination for how a situation could be made a lot worse… it was one of her many useless talents.

Dr Doctra, CMO

“Enter,” replied a gravelly voice from inside.

The doors opened to reveal what at first glance appeared to almost be a museum dedicated to late 20th century military items. Machine guns, automatic pistols, military plaques and framed awards lined the walls, including numerous Purple Hearts, a Medal of Honor and a Bronze star. Also, on the walls were framed pictures of Army military units. If one looked close enough, they would recognize a younger Capt. Colter with various military rank insignia on the uniforms.

Colter’s favorite item in the collection sat by itself, almost reverently. It was an US Army M24 sniper rifle. The weapon he used to get him safely through the Eugenics War.

Seated behind the desk was Capt. DaVinci Colter himself. A large muscular man whose every muscle was in perfect symmetry. Had he been dressed in ancient Roman garb, carrying a sword and shield, he would be the epitome of a Roman gladiator.

Valeria walked in slowly. She tried to keep her amber and her green eye trained on the Captain but she seemed to have walked into a museum. For a second she was distracted by the antiques in the room that immediately peaked her curiosity, but she ripped her attention back to the really very impressive specimen of a human male in front of her and wondered whether he had purchased them when they were new. That thought made her blush, accentuating her Trill spots slightly.

“Lt. Valeria Doctra, reporting for duty sir.” she said in her deep timbre voice.

Dr Doctra, CMO

DaVinci stod from behind his desk making his presence seem even more impressive.

“Lt. Doctra, welcome to the Manhattan. Please, have a seat.”

His voice was a deep, gravelly baritone. His words delivered slowly and forcefully, with a warrior’s authority, restrained anger, and an almost primal intensity.

His voice and the way he spoke washed down her in quite a pleasant way and a small part of her tried to imagine that voice in other situations, but that train of thought quickly got over ridden with his intimidating stature and Valeria sat maybe a bit too fast.

“I’m glad you’re here. We’ve been without a chief medical office for too long. How are you getting settled?”

„Quite well, thank you Captain.“ she said, happy to let him lead the conversation.

Dr Doctra, CMO

DaVinci gave her a roguish, mischievous grin. “I’m glad to hear that, doctor”

Looking directly into Valeria’s eyes, he noticed her heterochromia for the first time. Between that, her striking red hair, and the Trill spots, it gave her an extremely attractive . . . exotic look. Before he could make a comment, his computer screen chirped.

=^=Captain, Admiral Von Dane is on comm, waiting to speak with you.”

=^=Thank you, ensign. Pipe it in here. I’ll take it in a few moments.

=^=Aye, sir.=^=

Colter looked back at his new CMO, almost disappointed.

“I apologize, doctor, but you can’t keep the brass waiting too long. I would enjoy finishing this conversation, though, say, in my quarters? 1800 hours? I’ve been told I’m a pretty good cook. i could whip up some traditional trill meal . . . or my Cowboy Chili is always a hit with the crew? No pressure, but I would like to get to know you better.”

Her eyes went wide and she blushed some more. „Uhm, dinner? In… in your quarters?“ she stumbled over her own words. That was highly unusual and she could see no reason why he made such an inappropriate offer.
She stood somewhat suddenly and almost toppled the chair. No pressure he had said so she could decline. What even to talk about a whole evening long with her commanding officer?
Maybe his informal way was a symptom of his unique upbringing. Yes, that had to be it. His brain must be so unusual!

„I thankfully have to decline Captain DaVi… Captain Colter. Uhm, maybe you can come by sickbay to.. ah, chat.“ and so she could examine him.
She had walked steadily backwards during that little speech and her heel found the door.
But he had to dismiss her first. Anxiously she waited for him to do that, trying not do trigger the door sensor prematurely…

OOC: Ask her again once she’s joined ;-)

“Very well, Dr. Perhaps another time. I am probably due for a physical.”

He looked at the monitor on his desk then back to the CMO. With a grin, he added, “Oh, before you sneak out and break protocol. . . you’re dismissed, doctor.”
