Valeria rang the chime 2 minutes before her onboarding psych eval. A Vulcan counselor. That would be interesting. She realised she was not supposed to be the one asking the questions, but oh, she had so many…
Psychology had been part of her medical training on Trill and in that, Trill were not so different to humans at all. If she had told her professor she would be working alongside a Vulcan psychologist, he would have thought she was making one of her (sadly frequent) bad jokes! But who knew… maybe she was one of those renegate Vulcans who embraced their emotional side. She had promised herself that she would go into this eval with an open mind.

Lieutenant T’Shain heard her chime go off, as she wasn’t aware she had a patient coming in to visit her. “Enter.” She said. Not sure how to feel because this is the first trill she has worked with in her career as a counselor.

Valeria walked in and gave a nod in greeting to T’Shain. “Hello Counselor. I’m Dr Valeria Doctra the new CMO, reporting in for my onboarding psych evaluation.” she said rather formally. She didn’t yet know after all what kind of Vulcan she was dealing with.

She sat there offering the nice good doctor a seat. “Please doctor have a seat. I am very glad you stopped by. Of course as a Vulcan, it’s unusual for me to express emotions and what not.” She said. “So please tell me anything I should be aware of and we can work on it together.” She added.

Valeria took a seat, her differently coloured eyes studying T’Shain timidly. So she was a typical Vulcan… but then how could she be a counselor? Did she even understand emotions? But she shouldn’t judge! Who was she to assume anything about a Vulcan counselor. Yes, it was unusual, but then she was an unjoined Trill, half of what she could be… As usual, the thought made her sour and her smile vanished.

“Well there is nothing much to be aware of, it’s all in my file really. I’m an unjoined Trill. I’m not happy about that but it’s a destiny I’m sharing with 80% of all Trill and I got used to it. Otherwise I feel fine and eager to get sickbay back into order.” she said, blushing a bit.

T’Shain looked at her surprisingly with a little smile. “I’m very glad you are eager.” She replied. “To be honest I was actually kind of eager to get started here. Lot of things to do lots of reorganizing to do. Lot of the other crew to still check in with. But I’m with you on the eager part. Whether I’m a Vulcan or not I do tend to use emotions. I know crazy right. Majority of my emotions are hidden but not all of them.” She added.

Valeria nodded. “I don’t know if that is crazy. You are the authority on it. Is it crazy?” she asked. “What do you think? What are the implications of it for you?”

She smiled a bit and short of blushed as well. “Your right doctor. I would think that it maybe a little crazy. But having those emotions is what makes us all human. Even though we both know we are both not human.” She stated.

Valeria didn’t say anything in reply because the truth was, she was flabbergasted. It didn’t happen often - in fact very rarely - but she genuinely didn’t know what to say to that, or what the counselor was getting at. So she just smiled and kept listening.

She looked at her. “Not all Vulcans hide their emotions is what I’m saying doctor. And I’m one of those Vulcans that doesn’t. So I think it’s a good thing.” She said. “I do however like your profile. You seem good you seem fit. And I know your fit for duty.” She added. “And besides my door is always open so if you need to talk to me about anything you can let me know.” She added.

“Thank you counselor, much appreciated.” Valeria said. Had that been a dismissal? She wasn’t entirely sure, they hadn’t really talked about anything pertaining to her, only about Vulcan nature… but maybe this was just a first meeting, not an evaluation as such. Which really, was fine with her, she had just been through an eval on her last assignment and didn’t feel like she needed another one again so soon.
So she tentatively stood up.
“I’ll be leaving now?” she said, but it came out as a question.

“Apologize doctor please. What is something I should know that isn’t in your file?” She asked.

OOC: Sorry, but Valeria is quite timid and doesn’t lead a conversation - except when it is about medical topics. Also she doesn’t like counseling sessions, so this teeth-pulling conversation is just establishing her character as an (as of yet) unjoined Trill who wants this session to be over but also doesn’t want to appear rude. ;-) It’s ok that their first meeting went badly - that’ll make for some great threads between them later :)

Valeria raised one eyebrow, halting her progress to the door. Why ask her that when she had already declared her fit for duty?
She had told the counselor already the one thing that counselors had always tried to coax out of her. Just how upset she was that she got banned from the host program because of her genetic ‘defect’ of having two differently coloured eyes. A genetic defect that would in no way be harmful to a symbiont, but Trill law forbid joinings with hosts that had a genetic defect, so she got kicked out, although she had been better than any of the others… Valeria sighed. There was no sense in repeating it again and again, all it did was to remind her of it and that made her upset! Which was a natural reaction, nothing she needed counseling about.

“There is really nothing I can think of. I am well and happy with my life, so thank you for declaring me fit for duty counselor.” she said and made to leave.

OOC: It’s okay. Im going with it as well so don’t worry.

IC: “of course doctor. You are free to go to duty.” She smiled at Doctra and sighed a little later.
