Ranlei had used every stalling tactic possible to havoid talking to the CNS. She had taken to using her Intelligence training anud comics puter skills to schedule her apointments at times when the CNS was otherwise engaged thus making it look like a series of coincidental missed apointments. Then sh7e had switched apointments with another crewman a few times so that NE OverlyInsecure had seen the councilor 6 times in a week. But that was probably being cruel to poor Overlyinsecure as now that man was paranoid about the CNS being out to get him. So she had booked Overlyinsecure for a two week r & r next stop over. These types of Shenanigans were going to get her in trouble. So stalling wasn’t going to work anymore. She had hoped that by stalling things would settle into normal. But that hadn’t happened. If anything the f5act that she was crawling out of a Jefferies tube on her way to see the CNS likely indicated that the claustraphobia she had experianced since she had spent 3 days trapped in a envitonmental suit was not any better. To the crew she passed she looked normal and as always she smiled and greeted each one by name. Starfleet personel unlike civilians tended to be more accepting of aliens but her pre-academy life Had left her with a tendency to keep her own opinion private, and a lack of self esteem she covered up by always trying to seem confident. So she buzzed the door chime to the CNS’s office before she could chicken out again. And waited.Ensign Ranlei Greene. Engineer.
“Enter!” came a soft but commanding voice from inside the office.
When the door slid open, Ranlei would find a very sparse, utilitarian space only occupied by a desk with two chairs. The desk was occupied by a tired-looking woman in a Starfleet uniform whose blue eyes flicked up to greet the Orion as she entered.
“Hello, I’m Commander Nunn, how can I help you?”

Ranlei stepped inside noting that the room barily had more decoratice elements or even functional elements than her own quarters. She had lost everything she owned when shechad been shipped to the Ark Angel. ” Ensign Ranlei from Engineering Maam.”, she said standing fomal0ly. “I arrived after the ship’s last resupply and crew transfer. ” she didn’t go into ant details about her arriving trussed up like a prize beast ready for proccessing into sunday dinner. Everyone on the ship had heard the story by now anyways. She looked the CNS over and softened her formal voice and smiled, “Maam you look tired. Maybe we should put my evaluation on hold till you better rested. “, and she dropped the formal posture enough to smile. Of course the CNS was tired she had been interviewing every member of the crew since they left Starbase. It has to be a overwhelming task and Ranlei didn’t envy her. “Commander is their any way I can be of service? Anything I can do to make your life easier? As you mightvsuspect I am fairly skilled as therapeutic massage andsome other methods of relaxation.” , and she shrugged, “My species are after all some of the most decadent and hedonistic people in the universe and heaven forbid I be less than what people expect me to be. I actually was raised by foster families in a fairly puratanical comunity. But To say I never fit in is a understatement. Weird thing is people will mold you to their expectations even if the do not approve of what they expect.”, Ranlei realised that she had said a great deal about herself. And that she had not given the Commander a chance to respond yet so she shrugged. The pastor always told me I talked to much. But then he also said the devil must be Greene when he thaught I couldn’t hear him. His family was the only foster home that kept me over a year.”. And she stopped talking so the CNS could catch up.

Katie listened carefully and attentively to Ranlei as she introduced herself and smiled as she asked if she could be of service. She’d found in her short time as a ship’s counselor so far that it was remarkably rare for people to inquire into how a ship’s counselor was doing. In a way, that was an excellent perk of the job in her current circumstance. “Well, I think first I need to be of service to you and we should get your evaluation done. It seems like you’re overdue given the ship hasn’t had a counselor for a while.” She gestured to the chair in front of her desk. “I haven’t had much time to settle in, but we can still get it sorted out.”

Ranlei didn’t sit as she hadn’t been given permission to do so yet. Her stint in a military academy made her a bit of a stickler for such details. “As you will maam. I know a herbal tea blend that will do wonders for your energy levels if your a bit run down Maam.”, she said taking the two steps over to the replicator while never facing away from the CNS. She tapped the command input button and said, ” two 8 oz mugs Oolong, boisenberry blend twist of lemon. A nd 4 raspberry danish. “, she ordered and picked up the teas and plate of danish in a way only a practiced server would and set them down on the commanders desk. “I was going to be in ops when I first joined the academy Maam and no meeting is complete without some edible componant. Of course I changed focus after I started getting comments on how I looked like a holiday decoration in a red unifor. That and It was made clear I was destined to never rise in the ranks because nobody would ever trust a Orion. So I entered Engineering where I can be of service to Starfleet without rank really mattering. I was upset about the willingness of Starfleet officers to judge me based on my spiecies at first but if I am honest when anyone anywhere says Orion everyone thinks syndicate in their head. So like it or not you play the cards life deals you.”, Ranlei said as she served the tea and Danish. As she took the spot she had stood in before and waited.
