Shortly after the meeting in the captain’s ready room, the senior officers dispersed to their stations, each carrying the weight of the orders just given. The anomaly, still pulsing deep within the Romulan Neutral Zone, had everyone on edge.

Lieutenant Commander Alex Becket exited the ready room alongside the captain, pausing briefly at the tactical station to review the latest telemetry. The readings were erratic—tachyon emissions spiking and collapsing in irregular intervals, almost as if the anomaly was responding to their scans.

The hum of the Ark Angel’s engines filled the deck, steady and calm, but the tension among the bridge crew was unmistakable. Eyes flickered between consoles and the viewscreen, where the shifting distortion of the anomaly shimmered against the stars.

“Maintain yellow alert,” the captain’s voice cut through the quiet. “I don’t want any surprises. Helm, adjust course to hold us just inside Federation space. Science, continue analysis of the anomaly. I want to know if it’s stable—or if it’s some kind of trap.”

Becket’s fingers danced across his console as he brought up a layered display of subspace readings. He frowned, leaning closer. “Sir, I’m detecting faint gravimetric fluctuations within the tachyon field. If this holds, it could destabilize subspace in the surrounding sector. That much energy… it’s not natural.”

A silence followed, broken only by the quiet chirp of sensors. The Romulan border had always been dangerous, but this… this was different.

For the Ark Angel and her crew, the mission had just begun.

Liam worked quietly at the science station, reviewing the scans and conducting additional scans to try to get a clearer picture of the anomaly. The interference has made it difficult at times. Liam still did not have an answer to what the captain was asking for. “Aye, sir! Still trying to get a clearer picture.” As Liam continued his observations.

“The blobs of tachons might be cloaked Romulan vessels. They might be having as much difficulty as we are with the scans.” Liam said calmly to the officer. “I believe the anomaly is stable for the moment. “I am trying to filter out the interference to get a clearer picture.” Pawl added.

Liam was not certain if the XO was referring to him to add shields or one of the others. the security chief, or the tactical officer. “I am not a security or tactical officer, sir. ” Liam said softly to the officer. Not sure what to do.

“Don’t worry Lieutenant. Was looking at the other officers.” Becket had said to Liam.

NE Logan who was a tactical officer nodded at commander Becket and rose the shields up at the time of the command. “Shields are up sir.” Said NE Logan.

Becket looked over at everyone and nodded. “Let’s make this mission count. No word from anyone. Since we are here in the neutral zone. We are the only ship out here. Let’s make this one count.” Becket said to each and every officer that is around him.

OOC; Alex, thank you for running with this. I am going to post like I had an important meeting that needed to be handled while the mission was started.

Captain Donoghuei walked out of his office and looked at the bridge. He saw what was up on the main screen and was aware the shields had been put up as a precaution. He looked at Commader Becket and said, “Do you have a report for me, Commander.” He then waited for Alex to get out of his chair before sitting down.

Alex hears the captain as soon as he left his ready room. “Captain.” As he looked back. “We have just reached the neutral zone. No sign of anyone. No communication nothing. I have ordered a scan of the entire area and at least shields up as well sir. I’ve taken the liberty of taking it carefully. At this point you don’t know who’ll pop up.” He gave his report to the captain. Sitting down next to the captain.

OOC: Of course. It is the least that I can do.

As he heard that he thought about something. “Lieutenant open all hailing frequencies. I want to see if we can reach them.” He said. Thinking if they can get a hold of the romulans the ark Angel will be able to start investigating.

Tak slid onto the bridge. The Science station was occupied by the Chief, so they relieved the pilot instead, taking over monitoring of the ship’s navigation.

They carefully checked the programmed maneuvers, ensuring they would be ready if things got hot.

Devin had made sure everything was caught up in Sickbay, she still had a few physical evals to take care of but they could be taken care of after the current mission was complete. She debated about stepping out to check how things were going on the bridge but figured it was best to stay put in case something came up so she wouldn’t be elsewhere when she would be needed in Sickbay. So she took the time to read over reports as she waited for an update from the bridge.

“There is life out there sir.” Liam answered. As for the status of their ships, I would say since they are cloaked, there is no offensive posture. I am not feeling any threating posture at the moment or threat. All I can say for they don’t want to answer the hail. Maybe they haven’t heard anything of interest?” Liam finished as he continued the scans.

As the channel opened Becket said again. “This is Lieutenant Commander Alex Becket of the federation starship Ark Angel. We were sent by Starfleet command to see what is going on here.” He said trying his opening hail again.

Devin headed for the bridge after the invition from Alex by internal comms. She left a few medical personnel in charge of Sickbay before she stepped out.
After arriving at the bridge via the turbo lift she exited as Alex finished speaking over the comms, hail. She walked in quietly and stood near Alex as he waited for a response to the hail.

Ciaran looked over at Commander Becket and said, “Thank you for trying to hail the ship. Have we done a full ship scan to see if there are any life signs or anything. There might be an explanation on why they aren’t responding.” He then waited to hear what the Commander had done.

I’ll even go to my office afterwards and speak to Starfleet. This is going to be a long run here folks.” He said to all senior staff.
