Devin Murphey

Devin Murphey born during a winter storm to Garnet O’Connor and her fiance Harrison Murphey, in a classic example of Murphy’s law, Anything that can go wrong, will go wrong with the additional and at the worse possible time. The power was out, at the family house high in the Smokey mountains. With no other course Harrison ended up not only being father to the baby but to be the one to help his dear Garnet deliver their daughter at home. When the winter storm let up enough for traveling safely Harrison took Garnet and their daughter to the nearest Hospital and had them checked over.

Beyond that entrance Devin was a normal baby and toddler. She greatly enjoyed when her father took her to the office where he worked, speaking with the various folks. The folks with the “Pointy Ears” she kept asking if they were “Fairies!” in child soft-yell-whispers. While most generally only raised an eye brow one seemed mildly amused as they spoke softly to the toddler with Harrison. Before too long Devin was having animated conversations with the Pretty Fairy Man, as she got older she learned his name and started asking him even more questions. After school each Friday she would race through Harrison’s office and start looking for Saruck, she had taken to asking him to teach her his language and at first he refused but after numerous requests and getting permission from her father; Saruck began teaching Devin Vulcan. The tradition continued until her teens.

She applied to Starfleet intenting to study in the Science division. By the end of her studies she was 28 and fluent in a multitude of languages, medicine primary.

When postings were requested for officers she applied for medical and offered to help in linguists as well since she spoke; Irish, Scottish, Gaelic, French, Japanese (she was dating a very nice Japanese man) even long distance while she studied during her academy studies, Italian, Andorian, Deltan, and most of Vulcan’s dialects.

Her other science studies include; Linguistics, Biology, Xeno-biology, Bontany, Exobiology, Xenobiology, Horticulture (specialized with Bonsai trees), Forensics, this does not include her continuing studies for amusement on her own time.
