“Doctor Marshall,” called a familiar voice.T’Mor was already in the medical bay for her own reasons. A refill of the topicals that kept her rashes down.
“I understand you are busy doctor, but…”
she clasped her hands in front of her, and looked down towards the floor,“Perhaps, and I don’t mean to question just judgement in any way, it’s just that I noticed…”
T’Mor wasn’t sure what to say, except that she knew Luna was her friend and she could tell they were in distress. But saying that directly would not sound very logical. She took a deep breath, then straightened up and looked at Hayley directly.
“The Ensign’s increase stress will produce inaccurate readings.”
|Lt., j.g. T’Mor, Chief Science Officer
A look of surprise flitted across Hayley’s face and was gone before anyone could be sure they saw it. She paused to reflect on the situation for a moment before responding.
“You are correct Lt.” she replied, more in answer to the unsaid sentiment behind the Lt.’s words than their actual statement. She then looked toward Ens. Luna. “It appears your blood sugar is also a bit low. Perhaps you would like to take a break and get something to eat in the Mess? It could take some time for Ens. McQmlgh to arrive and for us to go over the readings.”
She than glanced toward Lt. T’mor before continuing. “Would you have time to accompany Luna? I would much prefer she not be alone right now.”
Lt. JG Hayley Marshall CMO
“I would be - willing to accompany Ensign Luna,” T’Mor said, the stiffness melting from her shoulders.
Seeing that the two senior officers were taking command, Ethan moved away to have a look at some fungal colonies he had been developing and observing. Close enough they could be called on if needed, but far enough away to give some privacy to the conversation.
Ens. Koerner
Medical Officer USS Ark AngelLuna exhaled, barely resisting the urge to bolt from the biobed the moment Hayley suggested she leave. Relief flooded through her, loosening the tension in her shoulders, even as she fought to keep her reaction controlled.
“Yeah… yeah, that sounds like a good idea,” she said, her voice quieter than usual but steady. She flexed her fingers, as if shaking off the lingering weight of Sickbay’s sterile air. The scent of antiseptic clung to her, a reminder of too many things she didn’t want to think about. Getting out, even just for a little while, felt like a small victory.
Her wings shifted, unfolding slightly as she slid off the bed, her posture still guarded but noticeably lighter. “Not sure if I’m actually hungry, but I’ll take the excuse to move,” she admitted, her sky-blue eyes flicking toward T’Mor. “And I won’t argue about having company.”
Luna didn’t need to say it out loud—she wasn’t ready to be alone with her thoughts. Not yet. For now, getting out of Sickbay was enough.
Ensign Luna
T’Mor nodded, “Whenever you are ready, then Ensign.”

MaQ walked into Sick Bay not knowing what to expect and asked, “Doctor, you requested Engineering support?”
Maqmlgh, Engineer
Hayley nodded at Ensign MaQ and handed him a medical tricorder. “Yes, thank you,” She replied. “We have discovered some form of nanotechnology embedded in Ens. Luna’s arm. It seems to be giving off some kind of signal. What do you make of it?
OOC here are the results of the scan: (copied from Ens. Luna OOC above)
(Nanotechnology Activity:
• Signal Emissions:
• Marks emit an intermittent low-frequency signal.
• Signal is encrypted and appears designed for tracking or monitoring.
• Frequency suggests activation within the last 24-48 hours.
• Pathways:
• Nanotechnology is interfacing with local nervous and circulatory systems.
• Energy conduits observed beneath the surface, consistent with advanced synthetic implants.
• Subroutines:
• Latent subroutines detected, currently inactive.
• Possible functions include remote activation, forced physiological responses, or further integration.Biochemical Reaction:
• Stress Response:
• Slight localized biochemical response indicating low-level stress or adaptation to the nanotechnology.
• No immediate systemic impact on the subject’s health.
• Hybrid Physiology Interaction:
• Marks leverage the subject’s unique physiology to enhance integration and remain undetected until activation.)Hayley Marshall CMO

Maq looked at the readings that the Chief Medical Officer had just showed him from the scans. After a moment, MaQ replied, “Is the nanotechnology localized to the arm or can they move from one person to another.” Maq had never seen anything like this and wondered if he needed the Chief Engineer here.

=/\= Becket to MaQmlgh. What do we have down there? I’ll be there shortly.=/\=. Alex said to him tapping his badge.

U.S.S. Ark Angel=/\=Aye Sir,=/\=, MaQ replied
“Localized I believe, it’s too well integrated to be otherwise.” Hayley replied, “My concern is the signal it seems to be emitting. What do you make of it?”
OOC: This is what your investigation should reveal:

MaQ thought for a moment and replied, “We should set up a dampening field around her in case it is sending a signal somewhere.”
Maqmlgh, Engineering
“I agree. Officer thinking Ensign.” Lieutenant Becket then nodded at the doctor and said. “Doctor, what do you think. I say we do put up a dampening field around her. In case it is sending a signal somewhere else.” He said to the doctor.

U.S.S. Ark Angel“I agree as long as it can be done in a way that allows her to keep her independence. She has a well reasoned aversion to institutional settings, to the point it would likely be harmful to her mental health, not to mention she also has the care of her child to consider.”
Lt. JG Hayley Marshall CMO
“Yes doctor we will keep that in mind.” He said.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Alex Becket
Chief Engineer
U.S.S. Ark Angel“We could modify a small device to attach to her arm and only keep the dampening field localized to the area submitting the signal.” MaQ replied while looking at the Chief Engineer.
MaQmlgh, Engineering
“I agree. With that it’ll help keep herself and the baby safe still.” Lieutenant Becket said.
Lieutenant Junior Grade Alex Becket
Chief Engineer
U.S.S. Ark AngelHayley nodded at the two engineers, “That sounds like a good solution. Will you let me know when you have it ready? In the meantime I will bring the Captain and Chief of Security up to speed on the situation.”
OOC: We might want to table this thread for now until Luna comes off AWOL and is able to jump back in, agreed?
Lt. JG Hayley Marshall CMO
OOC: Agreed

MaQ looked over at Becket and said, “Sir, I believe that this situation is complete on my end and request permission to head back to engineering and resume my duties there.”
MaQmlgh, Engineer
“Of course. Go ahead I’ll stay here.” Becket said to MaQmlgh.

U.S.S. Ark AngelHayley nodded to the Ensign then turned back to the CE. “I’m going to head to my office and contact the Captain. Once you have the device ready please notify me and I will ask Ensign Luna to return to Sickbay.”
OOC: I am going to start a new thread for my convo with the Captain and COS but we can continue here for everything else of course…
Lt. JG Hayley Marshall CMO
“Of course doctor.” Alex said to her.
OOC: Alrighty.

Luna stepped just inside the threshold of Sickbay, pausing as the doors hissed closed behind her. The scent of sterilizer hit her instantly, a cold, clean presence that scraped against old memories. Her wings gave a subtle twitch, feathers rustling against the back of her uniform.
She hadn’t been gone long, but the reprieve had been enough to take the edge off. The mess hall had been warm, noisy, normal. It hadn’t erased her unease, but it gave her something to hold onto—something to carry with her now as she walked back into the place that had left her skin crawling not an hour earlier.
Her eyes scanned the room. Everything was just as she’d left it—too still, too bright. But this time, she kept walking.
Spotting Nurse Elin at one of the consoles, Luna approached with careful composure. “Hey,” she said quietly, a faint, controlled note to her voice. “Back from lunch. Just reporting in like the doc asked.”
The nurse looked up, offering Luna a warm but professional smile. “Welcome back, Ensign,” Elin said, her tone calm and reassuring. She took a quick glance at the medical logs before continuing. “Dr. Marshall is currently in her office. Why don’t you go ahead and take a seat on Biobed Three? I’ll let her know you’ve returned.”
Luna nodded once, relieved that no further questions followed. “Thanks,” she murmured.
Crossing the room, she climbed back onto the indicated biobed, her movements smooth but slow—less like someone in pain, and more like someone preparing herself to sit still in a place she’d rather not be. Her wings folded close, tighter than before, not out of fear this time, but bracing.
Behind her, Nurse Elin tapped a brief note into the system and sent a message to Dr. Marshall’s console:
To: Lt. JG Marshall
From: NE Nurse Elin
Subject: Patient Status UpdateEnsign Luna has returned from her break and is currently waiting on Biobed Three. No acute symptoms reported. Will continue monitoring until your return.
Luna sat quietly, her eyes not on the equipment, but on the floor—one breath at a time, reminding herself: You’re not back there. You’re here. You’re safe. Just breathe.
Ensign luna
Hayley’s Padd beeped, notifying her of the incoming message. She acknowledged it and stepped out of her office, making her way over to Biobed three and Ensign Luna. “Welcome back,” she said, making sure Luna was aware of her presence - not wanting to startle her. “Our Chief Engineer just dropped this off a few minutes ago,” she added as she held out a small device designed to be strapped onto the Ensign’s forearm. “It will block any incoming or outgoing signals as long as it remains in place.”
(OOC: I am going to jump ahead a bit and assume Lt. Beckett has provided a signal dampening device for us)
