Greets to all! First off a small introduction is on the cards to let you all know a little about James and myself, for those that don’t know much about us. Our campaign itself will come in the next day or so, so stay tuned.

I, am Dave Shotton. Most commonly known as the Kiwi (it is a bird, not a fruit), that being an apt description of a nocturnal critter as I’m in New Zealand and often seen in Discord or posting at odd times of the day, I’ve been a member of STF since around April of 2016. I joined STF purely on a whim one night as I sat and considered how bad I was at Call of Duty (it was the lag, honest). Remembering as I looked for something to do that I rather liked Star Trek, that I was an avid tabletop D&D player and those two things had very little in common, I searched for Star Trek writing groups and STF was among the first that appeared in my search. So, I checked it out and joined that night. I’ve only regretted that a couple of times when I have woken up with QWERTY stamped across my cheek from trying to post and chat on Discord at 3AM.

I graduated from the Academy and 8 months later became the clubs Vice President under Jeremy DeSpain. A little longer than a year after I joined, I became Captain of the Saracen. In my time here I have taken Academy DH, CNS and XO roles at different times, held assistant FComm and FComm positions in the Foremost Fleet and volunteered to help with the changeover to Exodus and set up people’s accounts as they came in.

More recently, I hoped to work for the club more around the Academy and became the Academy Vice Commandant, Captain of the Challenger and the XO exam tutor. Helping out the club and volunteering my time has let me interact with a wide variety of people and really let me see just how varied and passionate the Star Trek community is, even in our small quadrant of the internet.

I have always been impressed at the way people in this club put in their own time and effort into making this a better place for us all to write and spend our free time, even when that effort isn’t always recognized. Yet they still have the passion to make this a club we all want to return to each night. Many of us have our differences, but our love of Trek and writing means we have common ground to stand on and there are not many places these days that can bring people together and support each other like this site does at it’s best.

And of course from my friend, James Sinclair:

My name is James Sinclair. I have been honored to be a member of the club for almost two years, starting as a Cadet on the Challenger. From there I was made the Security Chief directly out of the Academy, and from there I moved onto more than a few ships. I have served as a DH in all sections (Security, Science, Medical, and Counselor), I was the Executive Officer of the Ark Angel, and am the current Commanding Officer of the Manhattan. Administratively, I am the Assistant Fleet Commander of the Foremost Fleet and the club’s Dock Master.

It has been a true pleasure getting to know the many people in this club that I have; and while I know that many of us have different approaches to how we want to see things handled and our priorities may not always align, I know that all of us have the same overall goal: to see this club successful, vibrant, and a fun place to write in. It is my desire to assist with that in whatever way that I can. I look forward to answering your questions. Thank you for your time.
