Torias Paron

Torias Paron was one of the favourites for selection for joining at the Symbiosis Commission, but he always seemed to find himself in situations that put him in danger.

One such situation was when he was a new initiate. He had just been selected to begin training when he was on a shuttle ride back from visiting family that got into an accident and crashed on a nearby moon. The commission thought that his life would be too dangerous to be joined, and it would be harder to protect the symbiont if they were to assign one to him.

Given his survival when he crashed, Starfleet took an interest in Paron after the commission rejected his application, and he ended up joining Starfleet. Having passed through the academy and serving on the USS Valiant in the Security Branch.

Torias had performed many missions in the USS Valiant’s security, rising to the rank of CoS over a short period of time. His first mission as the chief, the crew had discovered an uninhabited class M planet. Everything looked normal at first, and so Paron suggested sending an away team down to get more data and analysis on what they had found. When the away team landed, the discovery was rather promising. Old ruins suggesting an ancient civilization that onced lived on the planet, but it had been overtaken by Jungle. Little did any realise that there was some unidentified plant life that acted as a defense to the planet. They away team were attacked and dissolved by the local plant life over a period of hours, a painful death that they couldn’t escape from. The plants interfered with communications and transport signals, and there was nothing Paron had done, the planet itself seemed to be fighting against them. The away team was lost a result, and at first Paron felt responsible. He learned to live with that decision, and though it had been a problem at first, the captain of the Valiant told him that he had learned a valuable lesson of command - that sometimes not everybody you send comes back, and that they all knew that it was a possibility that they wouldn’t return to their families.

As a result, he kept his position for some time, before he got invited to return to the academy as an instructor. He spent some time in San Fransisco teaching the new Security cadets before he was offered a position as a chief of security on board one of the cadet cruise ships. He wanted to get back up into space so jumped up at the opportunity, his time on the Valiant and at the academy making him suitable for a new position, and he was invited to join the USS Endeavor as a mentor.
