Mel Booker

Physical Description: Mel is around average height, with dark brown hair. Her ethnicity is mixed, but her features tend to lean towards what might be traditionally more Asian. Her hair is cropped short, falling to her shoulders, but she often has it tied up with a few loose strands hanging in front of her face while on duty. Appearance wise, she’d classify herself as fairly plain, though she doesn’t typically put more thought into it than necessary.

History:
Mel Booker’s mother was a security officer and her father a science officer, both serving aboard a scientific survey vessel when she was born. Her childhood was fairly ordinary, given that she was raised on ships for most of it, and she grew up without issue: happy and healthy. Throughout her early years, she nursed a passion for tinkering and working on small gadgets and the like, so there was no question of what to do with her life when the time came to decide.

Predictably, she joined up with the Academy as soon as she was old enough, and Mel soon found she loved the Academy, though the adjustments to planet side living were a little rough at first. The Engineering track had just been what she’d always wanted, and despite the first three years passing all too quickly, she was thrilled to be assigned to the USS Challenger and start actually serving on a ship.
