The concept of a mandatory psych eval was not a foreign one to Mel; the reasoning behind it was sound. If an officer was deemed unfit for duty, it certainly was in the best interest of the crew and even that officer, if you thought about it. Moreover, all prior record indicated that this would be a breeze, another tick marked off on her boarding checklist before she could get to work. The newly arrived Cadet Booker was fairly sure she had no psychological issues.

Still, she couldn’t help the slight nerves as she stepped up to the door. Steeling herself - there was no use worrying before it had hardly begun, she pressed the door chime and waited.
