“Yes, Captain. I am Lieutenant Eshrallias Vheris, your new CSO.” Her tone was sharp, ice seemingly lacing the vowels of each word. It did not seem her manner was hostile, simply naturally cold as ice. That was, of course, the general nature of her people.

“Welcome aboard,” Johnson said, standing up to greet the Andorian as he placed the PaDD he was reading on top of a rather large pile of other PaDDs… “Please, have a seat.”

If Eshrallias was able to read human expressions, she would see that the captain looked a bit fatigued, but not distracted - his focus now being on his new CSO.

“If it isn’t above my paygrade to say, Captain, you seem quite tired.” Eshrallias observed, taking a seat across from the Captain. She studied his features for several seconds, before clasping her hands upon lap and leaving the comment, as was. She had not intended to be rude, merely an observation from first glance of noticing him beyond the regal uniform.

“Large-scale personnel changes on a starship can be difficult at the best of times,” Johnson explained. “On an Academy starship - well, it makes the Vulcan game of kal-toh seem like child’s play.”

“That would take serious talent, to make such an impossible game seem.. simple.” Eshrallias rose her eyebrows, “The best of luck to you, Captain.” Her words were a bit odd, as if she wasn’t certain that was the proper statement to use.

“How about you, though, Lieutenant? With everything going on, any difficulties getting here from the Jenson?”

“Not many, sir. As hectic as all of this is, the change seemed fairly smooth, in comparison to what you’ve been describing, regarding your own staff changes.”

Johnson nodded. He decided another approach to get to know his new Chief Science Officer. “My background is in sciences as well. My first post as a young chief science officer was on a Discovery-class starship just like Endeavour. Although an older ship class, the science lab resources are still exceptional,” Johnson said. “Do you have any research projects in mind while on Endeavour?”

“A pleasure to know another scientific mind,” Vheris seemed to be more comfortable, once this was revealed. “I choose not to have anything planned, seeing as time has an odd way if making any stone plans become useless.”

Eshrallias continued, “However, I do look forwards to any opportunities for projects, that come my way: whether suggested by a Cadet or another Department Head, I’m open to ideas.”

The Andorian was not much a person for having a specific plan, unless needbe. There was morals and basic procedures which she followed, however, she never boarded a ship thinking: ‘This is all I’m going to do with my life, here.’ If anything, she was open minded, despite that coldshoulder. “Have there been any particular experiments, which you have conducted or participated within, that had notable results?”
