(OCC: I assumed that quarters are shared by lower deck personnel on the USS Challenger, if that’s wrong feel free to let me know.)

Jethro took a step back as he looked at the finished product of his berthing compartment in the lower deck crew courters. He had been aboard numerous starships since he was born. On all styles, sizes, and class of ship, but Jethro had always been lucked to be assigned to private quarters with family or friends. Rooms that were like full on apartments with spacious living rooms. However, his current bunk was nothing more than a small, standard humanoid fitting, rectangular cut-out in the metal wall of the ship. Just enough space for him to sit up comfortably with an inch or so to spare between his head and the ceiling of his bunk cubby. The mattress thin fitting with a standard Starfleet issue orange blanket. And the standard issue triangle shaped wedge pillow.

The bunk was identically to the multitude of others just like it in the lower deck quarters. The stacks of uniform cubby bunks were three high for as far as his eye could see. With having boarded the USS Challenger Jethro did not mind in it as he held on to the ladder rung looking wt his handy work. In fact, he reviled in it. It made the whole reality of having his first posting as member of Starfleet feel even more concrete. Even if this starship was just a training ship. This was Starfleet. And it wasn’t like his berthing compartment was a carbon copy of the other bunks.

Cadet Erik Jethro Avant, like the other lower decks personnel, had decorated the spartan walls with a few memorability. First there was a three model of his the ship he was born on the USS Lovelace, a Challenger Class starship. There of course was a poster of the most famous Denobluan doctor to have served in Starfleet aboard the NX-01 Enterprise, Dr. Feezal Pholx. There were three smaller posters of Dr. Leonard McCoy, Dr. Beverly Crushed, and the EMH Doctor from the USS Voyager. There was a digital photo of Jethro when he was 14 with his mother’s other two husbands (his other fathers) and two of their other wives (his other mothers). Then a digital photo graph of Jethro when he was 8 with his 7 siblings (all from his mother’s other marriages). Then of course was a digital photo of him, his father, and his mother on the surface of an alien planet with Jethro with six years-old. It was planet that the USS Lovelace had just surveyed that day.

Lastly there was physical photo in a frame of Jethro and his father in Okinawa, Japan the day that Jethro moved into his dorm at the Daystrom Research Institute. Jethro smiled at his decorations with a wide and sentinel smile.
